Edge suffered what is thought to be a torn Achilles tendon during a house show match against Jeff Hardy in San Diego last night. It happened about five minutes into the match, which was then stopped. Edge apologised to the fans before being taken to the back by EMTs. It looked as though he had just landed on his foot at an awkward angle and then went down. Tearing this tendon would mean that surgery and a significant rehabilitation period would be required. The rest of the Smackdown crew are leaving for a show in Honolulu today but Edge is not expected to travel with them. If this early diagnosis is accurate WWE is expected to change the tag team titles to Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase as soon as possible, working Edge’s injury into a storyline if they can.
