The scheduled August 15th bout between Joe Riggs and Nick Diaz will now be contested for the Strikeforce welterweight championship.
The addition of the welterweight title fight means that there are now FOUR title fights on the card, which would lead me to believe that Strikeforce is probably securing a four hour block of television time from Showtime instead of the typical three hour block.
Other title fights include Gina Carano vs. Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos for the women’s championship, Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum for the heavyweight title and Josh Thomson versus Gilbert Milendez for the lightweight championship.
