UFC 100 Preview: Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago

Previews

Like Jon Jones, Thiago is an internet darling, someone being built up to mythical status long before he’s ready for that label. He has one fight in the UFC, landing what some would call a lucky punch on Josh Koscheck and earning a controversial stoppage victory over the former Ultimate Fighter star. Before that, however, Thiago was toiling in Brazil, submitting guys in b-level Brazil shows that you’ve never heard of and likely never will. Thiago is the very definition of a one-hit wonder.

Jon Fitch is the polar opposite. Fitch has defeated Thiago Alves, Brock Larson and Diego Sanchez — and that’s just three of the nine victories he’s attained since making his debut back at Ultimate Fight Night 2. Fitch is battle tested, he’s a warrior – and he’s also the only man to take Georges St. Pierre a full five rounds in a championship fight.

Thiago is a fish out of water in this fight. I expect Fitch to come out swinging and to finish this fight early and in dramatic fashion.

PREDICTION: Jon Fitch by TKO, round 1
