Junior dos Santos was scheduled to face Justin McCully at UFC 102, but that’s apparently been scrapped in favor of a different direction altogether: dos Santos is claiming that he’ll be facing Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 103 on September 19th in Dallas. Junior is also claiming that the fight will be the main event of the card.
This would be a really interesting matchup for the heavyweight division for a bunch of reasons, not the least of which is seeing if Cro Cop or dos Santos have what it takes to rise to the top of the heavyweight division. A win by dos Santos would almost assuredly put him in the mix for at title shot, and a Cro Cop victory would go a long way towards indicating that he’s not a washed-up fighter who is coasting on past reputation.
