News

Another boxing warrior has fallen.

Arturo Gatti was found dead Saturday morning in Porto de Galihnas, Brazil. He was staying at a seaside resort with his family and was found dead in his room. Police are investigating the cause of death. A public safety spokeswoman stated that there were no bullet or stab wounds found on the body but there were blood stains on the carpet. Arturo Gatti was 37 years old.

This is the second passing of a former world boxing champion in July. Former three-division champion Alexis Arguello was found dead earlier this month. Arturo Gatti was a world champion in the super featherweight and light welterweight division.

Arturo Gatti was known for his countless wars in the ring, none more thrilling than his trilogy with Micky Ward. Four of Gatti’s fights went on to win Ring Magazine’s award for Fight of the Year.

Inside Fights will have more information on the death of Arturo Gatti as it becomes available.
