10 Thoughts on WWE Superstars – 07.16.09

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

After a slight hiatus, I’m back in full swing and it is time to crank it up a notch! Let’s talk to ten, shall we?

1. Remember when the Hart Dynasty were the tag team to talk about? They were awesome in ECW, but since their trade to SmackDown, things have been left to be desired.

2. Shad won me over as a fan by his awesome selling of the leg off a chop block. Now if only some of the main event superstars can learn from this prospect.

3. The boys from the hood pick up another win over the Hart Dynasty. Is there any hope for them left?

4. Hi. My name is Dolph Ziggler. I don’t get SmackDown right now, but he is another one that has grown on me since his debut match. The duelling promo with him and Rey was pure gold. I’m a promo man if you haven’t found out. Dolph plays his part very well and hopefully he’ll be a big name in the future.

5. In the same breath, I found it saddening that they had Dolph run away from Rey Mysterio. Still, I can’t complain too much since both men are playing their parts perfectly. It will be interesting to see if Dolph and Rey can produce a great match at Night of Champions.

6. Wow. Katie Lee Burchill underwent a gothic change. That’s hot…but so are the Bella Twins.

7. Good to see the switch-a-roo still works. It’s also good to see the heel trying to convince the referee otherwise.

8. Poor Kofi Kingston. At least Big Show is trying a little harder tonight to sell some offense.

9. THANK YOU! Jerry Lawler called the “sidewalk slam” correctly. Sadly, Michael Cole is still a tool.

10. Big Show does continue to bulldoze through Kofi and Evan…but the loss to Cena still has to eat him alive.

A decent show tonight, even though Superstars is slowly heading towards the path that Velocity and Heat once was. I give it a couple months before it becomes the “D Show” rather than a supplemental show to the three main brands. I’ll be back this weekend for Pay-Per-View coverage of TNA: Victory Road. Enjoy the rest of your week!
