Shawn Michaels is still expected to return at SummerSlam. He has been included in the advert for that show. Michaels at one point wanted to take the remainder of 2009 off. The Undertaker is not expected to return until September or October. The current plan for the SummerSlam main event is John Cena vs Triple H. Chalk up another victory for originality, then.
It seems to have been another tough week for WWE’s creative team, which was working on some long-term plans only to have then all fall through. Dusty Rhodes and Hulk Hogan were mentioned as potential Guest Hosts of Raw but Vince McMahon shot down Hogan’s name. Vince is hoping that Kristin Prouty, from their Entertainment Relations department, to bring in other B and C-list stars. She was responsible for the Seth Green deal. Kevin Dunn also suggested doing an American Idol type contest to discover Lilian Garcia’s replacement.
At one point WWE was considering keeping Carlito & Primo together and cutting out Carlito’s heel turn from the pre-taped show.
The ZZ Top segments on Raw were pre-taped because WWE had cold feet at the last minute about putting them out there live in front of the crowd.
