After three big budget Spider-Man films, director Sam Raimi went back to his roots for the low budget horror film, Drag Me To Hell. Now it seems Raimi is ready go big budget again.
Raimi has signed on to direct Warcraft, a live-action film adaptation of the fantasy video game franchise World of Warcraft.
Raimi is going to supervise early development of Warcraft and go into production after he completes Spider-Man 4, which will get underway early next year.
In the World Of Warcraft game, the player takes part in an epic conflict and must choose a side: the Horde and the Alliance. The game originally launched in 1994, has spawned several sequels and has an ever increasing fan base.
Warcraft is “emblematic of the kind of branded, event films for which our studio is best known,” said Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov.
“At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story,” Raimi said in a statement.
Now the big questions to start asking around the water cooler are what kind of story will be crafted in this world and who is going to star in it?
