10 Thoughts on WWE Superstars – 07.30.09

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

Some things are better late than never. I actually had this handwritten in my notebook and I found some time to put it to text. Let’s talk to ten, shall we?

1. Morrison/Hardy will be awesome Friday night; Morrison/Kidd will be a good match right now. Move over Miz – Morrison is the definition of awesome.

2. Owwww. Morrison landed HARD on the apron following that sick neckbreaker by Kidd.

3. Kudos to Tyson Kidd and John Morrison for setting the pace with a spectactular contest to kick off Superstars.

4. I could do without the “Ask a Diva” segment. USELESS, USELESS, USELESS. Save it for dot com and add that time to another match.

5. Who knew that the name Yoshi would represent something that isn’t a green dinosaur of Super Mario fame? Speaking of which, Yoshi’s theme music is something Nintendo could have easily used and no one would complain one bit.

6. It’s safe to say that William Regal is the new “Human Suplexing Machine”. That man knows about 1000 different suplex styles.

7. The MVP video is the exact opposite of the “Ask a Diva” segment. At least his push hasn’t completely fizzled out, though it will be interesting to see if he feuds with Chris Masters.

8. Randy Orton and Primo Colon in the main event? Color me shocked. Although I fear it’ll be a squash match.

9. I’ll eat my words. Sure, someone else might call that match an extended squash, but Primo really had nothing to lose in losing to the WWE Champion. Primo had his offense and he sold well for Orton. Orton did a good job in making Primo look like he was a threat.

10. That match is exactly what the WWE needs to do with new stars. I don’t know about anyone else, but when have we NOT had a match that featured Triple H, John Cena, or Randy Orton in some capacity? I know Triple H is a McMahon and I know John Cena is being shoved down our throats as if he was the Lord and Savior. What would be wrong in elevating someone like MVP into the main event, even if it was for a month or two? The WWE dropped the ball and they continue to do so when they do this. Look at SmackDown. CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, John Morrison, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker, Kane, Great Khali, and Dolph Ziggler…all of them could easily have a Pay-Per-View title match with whoever is the champion at that time. SmackDown has all that and RAW only has two title challengers in Cena and Triple H. ELEVATE NEW STARS!
