WWE SmackDown Spoilers for 8.7.09

The show opens with a video of last week’s Jeff Hardy-John Morrison World Title match.

CM Punk starts the show with an interview furthering his straight edge agenda. The crowd was very vocal against his tirade.

The Punk-Jeff Hardy World Title match never got started as Hardy attacked him before the bell. Vince McMahon comes out and blames Teddy Long for not keeping control. He sends everyone in the back and says the match will happen later with a McMahon-appointed outside enforcer.

John Morrison beat Tyson Kidd with Starship Pain. Said to be another really good match between the two.

Slam Master J (Jesse in his new hip-hop persona) beat Charlie Haas with a top rope splash.

Dolph Ziggler beat R-Truth, Mike Knox & Finlay in a four way match to determine Rey Mysterio’s challenger for the Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam. Ziggler pinned Finlay after his reverse DDT finisher thing. Mysterio did commentary.

Chris Jericho pinned JTG.

Great Khali destroyed Ricky Ortiz. After the match Kane came from under the ring and drug Runjun Singh out of the arena with. Khali slowly followed after.

Matt Hardy is introduced as the special enforcer for the World title match.

In the main event, Jeff Hardy beat CM Punk. The Hardys teased dissension with each other but never touched. Punk looked to have the win after putting his knees up during a Swanton, but Matt pulled the ref out of the ring. Punk yelled at Matt but Jeff rolled him and Matt counted a very quick 3-count. Afterwards Punk attacked Jeff and beat him into the announce table and with a chair, and then Pillmanized him neckfirst into a ringpost. Teddy Long then came out and booked Jeff against Punk at SummerSlam in TLC.
