The following news items were posted on the August 3, 2009 ROH Newswire:

ROH has announced the main event matches for the next set of ROH on HDNet National Television tapings at the Arena in South Philly.  For the August 14th taping, KENTA has selected Bryan Danielson and Roderick Strong as his partners in a 6-Man TV Main Event against Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, and Chris Hero.  The next night, August 15th, Hero and KENTA do battle one-on-one.

Also on the August 14th show, ROH World Champion Austin Aries has promised to have 20 “bright shining stars” in his hat when he draws a challenger. ROH officials do not know whose names will be in the hat; all that is known is that Aries will put the title on the line at a future ROH on HDNet Television Main Event against the wrestler whose name is drawn. ROH fans may voice their opinions as to which names they would like to see in the hat via Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace.

Jon Davis of the Dark City Fight Club passed the first real test of his surgically repaired wrist when he and Kory Chavis battled Sal Rinauro and Chasyn Rance during FIP’s latest event.  The Dark City Fight Club returns to ROH action on August 14th and 15th.

Speaking of the Dark City FIght Club, ROH officials have signed the first ever tag team Honor Rumble for the August 15th show.  ROH World Tag Team Champions The American Wolves will be taking part in the rumble, as will The Dark City Fight Club, Joey Ryan and Jimmy Rave of the Embassy, The Young Bucks, Kevin Steen and El Generico, Kenny King and Rhett Titus, Brent Albright and Erick Stevens, and Mark and Jay Briscoe.  The rules are as follows:  Two teams start the match.  Every 90 seconds thereafter another team enters.  Eliminations can occur at any time by throwing an opponent over the top rope to the floor.  Both members of each team must be thrown out for a team to become eliminated.  The last man standing in the ring will earn a tag title match for his team.

The following wrestlers have been signed for Ring of Honor’s September 18th and 19th return to Dayton and Chicago: Delirious, Tyler Black, Jimmy Rave of the Embassy, and The Briscoe Brothers.  ROH Newswire will have the first match announcements for that weekend’s show later this week.  Bret “The Hitman” Hart will also appear at the Chicago show.

This coming weekend’s ROH on HDNet episode (August 8th) will be the final one to air on Saturday nights.  Hereinafter, starting August 17th, ROH moves to Monday nights at 8 PM ET, and again at 11 PM ET.  The main event of the August 8th show will feature El Generico versus Davey Richards.
