More On Flair/Race And Cornette At NWA Fanfest

News

Slam Wrestling’s Steve Johnson has a write up on the Ric Flair/Harley Race and Jim Q&A sessions at the NWA Fanfest.

It has a little more detail on the things touched on in the previous post, including Race talking about why he didn’t take Vince McMahon’s offer to jump from the NWA to the WWF before Starrcade ’83. Johnson also shares the story of an unrecognized NWA Title change in New Zealand in 1984 that Harley Race orchestrated. Flair lost the belt to a promoter in New Zealand and won it back in Singapore three days later.

Johnson’s coverage of Cornette’s Q&A puts a bit of a different spin on whether Cornette would take the TNA booking position if offered:

“There are few things that you can say ‘never’ about,” he said, as the crowd chanted, “Take the job, take the job.”

Johnson also reports that Cornette still doesn’t care for Vince McMahon and WWE, in case you were wondering:

“[Expletive deleted] anybody named McMahon. That’s my opinion and I’m right,” he said to thunderous applause.
