BASEBALL – TIME AGAIN TO PUSH FOR TECHNOLOGY TO REDUCE PLATE UMPIRE DUTIES

The latest outrage I’m hearing is that some plate umpires are widening strike zones near the end of games or when games are “blowouts” (like when one team is around 10 runs ahead of the other).

Well, I think you guys are doing too much, especially if it tires you out at the end of the game. Maybe if you had to go to umpire spring training like the players, maybe if you had to be in shape like the athletes we are watching on television, along with watching you.

I’m ready to go with whatever the computers say about balls and strikes, just like I’m willing to trusts the lights to keep the night games playable, not to mention all the technologies required to assure all games are watchable in our homes.
