Diaz still hasn’t scheduled his drug test

News

We have been informed by the California State Athletic Commission that Nick Diaz has yet to call his pre-determined test screener to set up a time to take his drug test.

Diaz was scheduled to take his pre-license screening test on Friday, but no-showed. Diaz claimed he was too busy training to take a drug test.

He has until 3pm ET to schedule and take his test, but it appears that he’s still missing in action.

Should Diaz fail to take his drug test, he won’t be licensed to fight in California and will be out of his scheduled fight with Renato “Babalu” Sobral at the “Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg” show this weekend.

Since Diaz does not currently have a California license, it may make more sense for him to skip the drug test if he knows there’s a chance he’s going to fail. If he takes the test and fails, he wouldn’t be able to get a license for 12 months, which effectively ends his chances of fighting in Strikeforce over the next year. If he simply skips the test, however, he won’t be licensed for this fight but will likely suffer no official repercussions from athletic commissions.
