Nick Diaz Turns To Boxing

News

Nick Diaz has signed a professional boxing contract with Don Chagrin, a longtime boxing promoter. Diaz will be allowed to box professionally as well as compete in MMA matches with Strikeforce. This announcement comes on the heels of Diaz being replaced in this Saturday’s Strikeforce event on Showtime for failing to take a pre-fight drug test.

Nick Diaz has one professional boxing bout under his belt, a four-round unanimous decision victory in 2005. Diaz has shown that he has boxing skills, but within MMA confines and against MMA fighters. No fight announcement has been made regarding Diaz’s return to the boxing ring but it will be interesting to see how he transitions.

Diaz is following in the footsteps of KJ Noons, former EliteXC champion and MMA rival of Nick Diaz. Noons is 2-1 since returning to professional boxing.

And yes, boxing tests for marijuana too.
