Vick Signs With Philly

News, Top Story

Michael Vick is back in the NFL with a two year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, that’s the news, I’m going to be looking at the fit and how this will work.

First of all, I’m glad Vick is getting another chance. He served his time and has every right to go back to his old job. I think even PETA is glad to see him back because it keeps his visibility high so he can get his/their message out.

Next of all, the fans. Philadelphia fans aren’t exactly the nicest of people. However, I think being a home team player might lessen the verbal lashing Phily’s fans will give him. I think there will be a few rough patches with the Philly fans, especially when he makes a mistake, but if he gets settled in and makes some big plays the Phily fans will embrace him with open arms.

I think the fit is very questionable to say the least. You’ve already got McNabb at the QB position and they bring a lot of the same atributes to the position. Vick is a faster runner and McNabb is a better pocket passer, but McNabb is no slouch when it comes to scrambling. So I don’t know how well he’ll fit in at the QB position. That’s not to say that Vick will be set at the QB position. He’ll probably see some time at RB giving Westbrook and McCoy a few carries off. And he can work in at a WR position to work with Jackson and Maclin. This also gives them a heck of a Wildcat formation. Vick/Westbrook/Maclin in the backfield could be pretty dangerous.

Overall, I’m glad to see Vick back, I think it will be a pretty good fit for his playing style and I think he makes the Eagles better because of the things he can bring.
