Rasslin’ Roundtable – TNA Hard Justice

Features, Roundtables

TNA World Heavyweight title
Kurt Angle (c) vs. Sting vs. TBA (either AJ Styles or Matt Morgan)

Matthew Michaels: Wow can they really be putting the belt on Morgan here? I think it’s too soon, but it’s TNA. Sting doesn’t win it here unless there’s a master plan for him going out in a career vs. title match at BFG, but I wouldn’t bet on it. I’m going with Morgan with a “visual pin” followed by Angle retaining nefariously.
Winner – Angle

Roy Reynolds: Kurt Angle recently won the belt at Slammiversary, so the odds of him dropping it this soon appear to be quite slim. Sting is expected to retire within the next few months, so putting the title back on him would be a waste of time. As for Matt Morgan, I think it’s more than clear that he’s not ready to carry TNA on his shoulders right now. With all that being taken into consideration, I have to give this one to Angle.
Winner – Kurt Angle

Michael O’Mahony: The more I think about this, the more I think it would be sweet if they put Matt Morgan over. They won’t, though. I predict a Morgan face turn off the back of a patented TNA clusterfuck finish.
Winner – Angle

Mark Allen: Hopefully this ends up being a coming out party for Morgan despite him not winning the match. Kurt Angle is theface of TNA right now, and I don’t see him dropping the belt before Bound For Glory.
Winner – Angle

David Brashear: 24 hours ago, I would have been sure that Angle would retain. Now I’m not so sure. If Angle’s legal troubles continue to pile up, TNA’s going to have to get the belt off him. However, I don’t see Sting getting the belt back for a farewell run, and Morgan’s not quite ready yet. I’ll strike out on my own and run with the good old fashioned schmozz ending where the belt gets held up.
Winner – N/A (Belt held up)

TNA Legends title
Mick Foley (c) vs. Kevin Nash

Roy Reynolds: I haven’t been following this feud much at all, but I do know that Foley recently took the strap from Nash on an episode of Impact with help from Lashley. The only reason I believe Foley won the title is to make him apart of the championship’s history. In my eyes, TNA is looking to make all members of the Main Event Mafia title holders. This is a tough choice for me, but I think Nash will win the TNA Legends Championship back on pay-per-view, especially if Lashley isn’t going to be at ringside.
Winner – Kevin Nash

Michael O’Mahony: Trying…to…care…
Winner – Whoever takes home the biggest check.

Mark Allen: Two guys I couldn’t be more apathetic about these days. Their contract signing on Impact this past week was pretty good as they are both fantastic talkers but it still doesn’t make me want to see the match. I’ll say Nash takes the belt back, leading to everything collapsing for the Mafia at Bound For Glory.
Winner – Nash (new Champion)

David Brashear: I could honestly see this going two ways. First – back in WCW with the New Blood/Millionaire’s Club feud, the one belt that the NB couldn’t get their hands on was Terry Funk’s Hardcore title. I could see TNA putting Foley in that position, but the Mafia’s pretty much already spoken for with other belts (Angle with world, Booker and Steiner with tag), plus they don’t have the X-Division belt. I’ll call Nash taking the belt back to give the Mafia their moment in the sun.
Winner – Kevin Nash

Matthew Michaels: I think the babyfaces will start getting some wins at this PPV and here’s one match where that’ll be the case.
Winner – Foley

TNA World Tag Team titles
Booker T/Scott Steiner (c) vs. Team 3D
Michael O’Mahony: If they can keep Steiner (and the world’s most embarrassing tattoo) out of the ring, this has a small amount of potential. I expect a fat brawl.
Winner – Team 3D, to become tag team champions for a number of times so unprecedented that it loses all meaning.

Mark Allen: This is the best combination of the Heat and the Steiners they could put together so this is somewhat of a dream match. My own fantasy booking for the event has another Mafia clean sweep in the works however.
Winner – Book/Steiner

David Brashear: If the Mafia’s going to have their moment in the sun, then Booker and Steiner have to win – probably by DQ to set up a street fight against 3D at Bound for Glory.
Winners – Booker T/Scott Steiner

Matthew Michaels: Eh.
Winner – Booker & Steiner

Roy Reynolds: Ray and Devon have held the TNA World Tag Team Championships on several occasions up to this point. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m in the minority when I say that their title reigns haven’t been all that interesting. Booker and Steiner are a newly-formed tag team that has just begun their reign. Also taking into consideration that TNA is gunning to make all of the Main Event Mafia champions, I think it’s rather easy to predict that Booker T and Scott Steiner will retain their belts.
Winners – Booker T/Scott Steiner

TNA X-Division title
Homicide (c) vs. Samoa Joe

Mark Allen: Joe’s gonna kill you…
Winner – Samoa Joe (new Champion)

David Brashear: If this is a return to the dominant destructive Joe of old, I’m all for it.
Winner – Samoa Joe

Matthew Michaels: Joe wins the belt back as the heels keep the majority of belts.
Winner – Joe

Roy Reynolds: Homicide truly has a lot of potential as X-Division Champion, but I don’t think TNA is going to book his defenses properly. An upset win here over Joe would be a huge step in Homicide’s TNA career, but that may be too bold of a prediction. In the end, I think the winner of this match will be determined through whichever man at ringside makes more of an impact. Quite frankly, I believe Taz will attack Hernandez on the outside, allowing Joe to score the pinfall over Homicide. Not only would this victory make Joe a four-time X-Division Champion, but it would also add even more gold to the MEM.
Winner – Samoa Joe

Michael O’Mahony: Ooh. This might be a wicked awesome match. They should have Joe win this and then let Homicide complain his way into a feud with Hernandez to further establish Super Mex.
Winner – Joe

IWGP Tag Team titles
British Invasion (c) vs. Beer Money, Inc.

David Brashear: I’d like to see Beer Money get the win here, but I’d say it’s all down to whatever New Japan says. At least it keeps the Invasion busy and out of the world title picture.
Winners – British Invasion

Matthew Michaels: Whatever.
Winner – Beer Money wins, then New Japan says no they didn’t, then they do

Roy Reynolds: New Japan Pro Wrestling reportedly wasn’t happy that TNA took the straps off of Team 3D and put them on the British Invasion, so I don’t see why another title change would happen again on United States soil. To boot, Williams and Magnus definitely need this win over BMI to solidify themselves as a legitimate tag team threat in TNA.
Winners – British Invasion

Michael O’Mahony: I still don’t understand why he’s still called Brutus Magnus.
Winners – Not logic, that’s for sure. Or weak British stereotypes. Probably Beer Money.

Mark Allen: Well TNA has already messed with the IWGP Tag belts once without New Japan’s approval. I can’t imagine they would be stupid enough to do it again.
Winner – British Invasion

TNA Women’s title
Angelina Love (c) vs. ODB

Matthew Michaels: I really have no interest in this. Scott D’Amore save us!
Winner – Love

Roy Reynolds: It’s still a mystery to me as to how ODB still hasn’t won the TNA Women’s Knockout Championship once. She has consistently been a top babyface in the TNA’s women division since the birth of the title. However, I don’t think this is ODB’s time to win the belt. If anyone is going to be the next champion, it’s got to be Tara. She and Love apparently still have a score to settle with one another.
Winner – Angelina Love

Michael O’Mahony: I like Angelina Love. Decent wrestler, fun character. On the other hand, I despise ODB and Deaner, who are the kind of cringeworthy ‘characters’ that make me regularly switch off Impact somewhere in the middle. Angelina to kill them both, please.
Winner: Angelina Love and my sanity.

Mark Allen: Love has women like Alissa Flash and Sarita waiting in the wings to challenge her. She’s not losing here.
Winner – Love

David Brashear: I’d say that TNA leaves the women’s belt alone for a month. If there’s a switch to a babyface coming, it’ll be big and it’ll be at Bound for Glory.
Winner – Angelina Love

Steel Asylum match to determine #1 contender to the X-Division title
Suicide vs. Chris Sabin vs. Amazing Red vs. Alex Shelley vs. Jay Lethal vs. Daniels vs. Consequences Creed

Roy Reynolds: Just by looking at the list of these competitors, my mind traces down Suicide and Daniels as the only possible winners. Those are the only two guys in the bout that have been doing anything storyline-related lately, anyways. If Joe is going to win the X-Division Championship from Homicide, then the smartest move for TNA to make would be recreating a feud between Joe and Daniels over the title. If it weren’t for the matches in the past contested between those two, there’s a decent chance that TNA wouldn’t be one of the top promotions in the world today.
Winner – Daniels

Michael O’Mahony: Just trying to imagine what kind of mad shit Red is going to conjure up here makes me want to order the PPV. Unfortunately, he’s not really re-established himself in TNA yet, and everybody else bar Suicide and Daniels are tag team wrestlers. I’ll go with Daniels.
Winner – Daniels

Mark Allen: Why aren’t all the World Elite guys (EY, Sheik and Kiyoshi) in this match? They are bound to make their presence felt somewhere on this show. And why isn’t AJ Styles booked anywhere? I smell at Styles-Young match added to the show last minute. I’ve predicted mostly heels winning so I say Daniels wins here so he can renew his classic feud with Joe.
Winner – Daniels

David Brashear: Looking over the list of competitors, we’ve got several former champs in here. However, Sabin and Shelley should be focused on the MCMGs and Creed and Lethal are another team. That leaves Red, Daniels, and Suicide. I don’t know that the TNA fans have seen what Red could do back in the company’s early days, although I expect him to be a spotlight in this match. The best use for Suicide would be to unmask him as Kazarian and start a feud with someone that way. That leaves only one guy to win:
Winner – Daniels

Matthew Michaels: With Joe winning the X Title, who makes the most sense to represent the Front Line vs. him? Can’t be Sabin or Shelley can it? They HATE the Front Line! The rest are jobbers. Except…
Winner – Daniels

Abyss vs. Jethro Holliday

Roy Reynolds: What the hell is a “bounty match”? Quite frankly, I had no idea that these two guys were feuding in the first place. All I can think of is that there’s no way TNA would put Trevor Murdoch over a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Aside from that, no one gives two shits about Jethro Holliday. Let’s hope that this match is short and Abyss murders him in about five minutes.
Winner – Abyss

Michael O’Mahony: Why is this on a pay-per-view when AJ Styles is not?
Winner – Anyone who hates wrestling.

Mark Allen: I love me some old-fashioned bounty storylines. This looks like something Jim Cornette may have cooked up. That being said The Outlaw isn’t going to be the guy who takes out Abyss. They can easily milk this bounty angle to Bound For Glory (and beyond).
Winner – Abyss

David Brashear: After seeing some of the goofy storylines that have been cooked up for Abyss here and Kane in the WWE, I wonder if they’re not forming some sort of support group. Anyway, a rule of thumb about bounties – the first guy never succeeds.
Winner – Abyss

Hernandez vs. Big Rob

Michael O’Mahony: Dear God. Is Big Rob his official name now? TNA has suddenly realized that there is no longer any kind of feud between these guys and decided that the quickest way to resolve the situation is to have a match. Hernandez will win, but don’t worry workrate fans, Big Rob will no doubt bust out his awesome array of bodyslams.
Winner – Hernandez

Mark Allen: Remember when they used to feed guys to Goldberg on PPV just for the fun of it? That’s what this is going to be like.
Winner – Hernandez

David Brashear: You know how you can just look at certain matches and call them as match of the night? Yeah. This is not going to be that match. Although I’ve got to admit putting Hernandez in a feud for the world title might be kind of interesting…
Winner – Hernandez

Roy Reynolds: Hernandez has been built up lately to look like an absolute beast. In fact, he recently beat Samoa Joe cleanly in the center of the ring on Impact. All signs point to Hernandez winning back his briefcase for a shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. A move like this is definitely what Hernandez needs to be looked at as true world title material by the TNA fans.
Winner – Hernandez
