Must See: The Wolf Man Trailer

Trailers

Those who know me, know that The Monster Squad is one of my favorite childhood movies. So it comes as no surprise that I make a movie quote reference as my teaser.

Universal’s The Wolf Man is a project that seems like it’s been in production forever. In development since 2007, the project has been a carousel for directors. (First director, Mark Romanek, left the project due to creative differences.) Bret Ratner, Frank Darabont, and James Mangold had interest, but the gig eventually went to Joe Johnston, of Hidalgo and Jurassic Park III previously.

Then comes the release date. Originally scheduled for February 13, 2009 (thereby competing with New Line’s Friday the 13th), the film was moved to April 3, 2009. But a mere four months from release Universal moved it to November 2009. It was moved yet again last month to a new release date of February 12, 2010.

Today on FirstShowing.net, the site has a trailer for The Wolf Man starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving. The trailer is well done, except for when we see Benicio Del Toro transform into the wolfman. It’s done with CG, which is a huge letdown. But Rick Baker was involved with the effects, so hopefully Benicio as the Wolfman will give people the heebie jeebies. It may be Joe Johnston’s first movie in nearly six years, but there looks to be plenty of violence and action. Watch the trailer and see for yourself.

Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman, is lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Upon his return and after being reunited with his estranged father, Talbot is bitten and cursed by a werewolf.

According to Universal Pictures, the first trailer for The Wolf Man will be attached to prints of Inglourious Basterds.
