Apparition, the domestic distribution company run by Bob Berney and Bill Pohlad, will handle the upcoming release of the blaxploitation spoof that has been getting rave review since Sundance.
Dynamite was helmed and co-written by Scott Sanders and stars Michael Jai White (The Dark Knight), who also co-wrote along with co-star Byron Minns.
Berney told Variety that “both Scott and Michael really know every film in the (blaxploitation) genre and every little detail.” Berney watched the film’s progression since Sundance while he was developing Apparition, and now he’ll be releasing the film on October 16th.
Dynamite is Apparition’s fourth title announced for release this year. Slate already includes Jane Campion’s Bright Star, Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life with Brad Pitt, and The Young Victoria, starring Emily Blunt.
