Rey Mysterio Gives His Side Of The Story On Suspension, Gets Heat From WWE

News

Rey Mysterio gave his side of the story on his 30 Day Wellness Policy Suspension in an interview with the Record’s Salvador Rodriguez. Mysterio believes WWE handled the suspension poorly because he has a prescription for the painkiller he tested positive for.

He claims that he was only given 24 hours to prove the prescription was legitimate. By the time he got a hold of his doctor, the suspension was already in place, and it stands despite his doctor putting in a call to the labs that run WWE’s testing.

Sources are telling PWI’s Mike Johnson that Rey’s getting a lot of heat within WWE for doing the interview. There’s speculation that Rey could face further punishment for doing the interview, as a message to others who might be tempted to speak out in a similar situation. There’s also a belief among Johnson’s sources that Rey did the interview to gain sympathy in Mexico, as he would probably work down there if this leads to him leaving WWE.

Johnson adds that Rey has been telling his side of the story to wrestlers who’ve asked him about it, and that he hopes to appeal to management personally at tomorrow’s TV taping, which is slated to be his last day before the suspension kicks in.
