Welcome to the EC-Dub!

Breaking Point is only 5 days away.  It should be interesting how the “gimmick” PPV works out, especially since faces rarely tap out.  Anyway, Christian and Tommy Dreamer take on Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson tonight.  Plus, Hurricane has a match with Paul Burchill.  On with the show!

Your hosts are Josh Matthews and Matt Striker.

“Stand back, there’s a Hurricane coming through”.  Hurricane heads down to the ring.  Paul Burchill follows with Katie Lea

Paul Burchill (w/ Katie Lea) vs. Hurricane

The bell rings and they lock up.  Burchill powers him to the corner.  Clean break and they lock up again.  They trade blows and Hurricane is on top.  Elbow from Hurricane.  Helms with a springboard cross body and a cover for one.  Head scissors from Hurricane.  Burchill reverses out and hits a big elbow drop.  Burchill in control but Hurricane amrdrags him down.  Weird abdominal stretch on Burchill (Striker calls it the octopus).   Burchill powers out and takes Hurricane down hard.  Burchill in control and gets a chinlock on Hurricane.  Hurricane tries to fight out but gets a short arm clothesline for his troubles.  Burchill lines him up in the corner and hits the running knees.  Cover for two.  Backbreaker on Hurricane.  Hurricane rolls up Burchill for a two count.  Burchill goes for a back body drop and Hurricane lands on his feet only to be clotheslined down.  Cover for two.  Burchill runs at Hurricane but Hurricane ducks and pulls the ropes down and Burchill goes to the floor.  Hurricane jumps on him from inside the ring.  They are both slow to get up and Burchill kicks Hurricane in the head and we go to…

We’re back and Burchill has Hurricane in a chinlock and body scissors.  Hurricane gets to his feet and gets kneed in the stomach.  Burchill sends him in the corner but runs into the ringpost when he goes after him.  Hurricane hits the Hurricane Press when Burchill goes off the ropes.  Cover for two.  Hurricane goes to the top rope and hits the cross body.  Cover for two.  Hurricane sends him to the corner but runs into a boot.  Burchill goes to the top but Hurricane catches him.  He also goes to the top rope but Burchill gets him on his shoulder and hits a power slam from the top rope.  Awesome.  Cover for two!  Hurricane gets sent to the corner again but Hurricane gets the elbow up on Burchill.  He goes to the top and hits the Hurricane-rana.  Cover for two.  Hurricane goes for the kick but gets distracted by Katie Lea.  Burchill tries to take advantage but ends up clocking his sister instead.  Hurricane hits the Eye of the Hurricane and gets the win!

Winner: Hurricane

Good opener.  Burchill has been solid lately and I’d like to see him get a win for his efforts someday.

We get a recap from last week when Christian and Dreamer took the Singapore canes to Kozlov and Jackson.

Savannah, the new interviewer for ECW, has Dreamer and Christian for an interview.  Dreamer says everything he lives for is ECW and Kozlov and Jackson can’t run roughshod over that.  Christian says he and Dreamer are taking a stand for ECW against them and they are ready for a fight.

Commercial break.

Shelton Benjamin is walking to the ring as we return.  His partner will be… Sheamus?  Yoshi Tatsu comes out as the first opponent.  His partner is Goldust.  Interesting match.

Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust vs. Shelton Benjamin and Sheamus

Goldust and Benjamin start.  Benjamin gets an armlock on him.  Goldust reverses.  Shoulder block from Goldust and then an armdrag from him.  Benjamin knees Goldust in the midsection and gets the upperhand.  Goldust gets his patented slap to the face as Benjamin goes for the back body drop.  Benjamin rushes him to his corner and tags in Sheamus.  Sheamus in control but Goldust escapes and tags in Tatsu.  Tatsu with some kicks but gets distracted by Benjamin and then gets clotheslined from Sheamus.  Sheamus with some elbow drops and a cover for one.  Tag to Benjamin.  Benjamin with a chinlock.  Tatsu reverses with a sunset flip.  Tatsu goes for the tag but Benjamin interferes only to be thrown out of the ring.  Tatsu goes for the tag again but Benjamin takes Goldust down.  They tussle on the outside until the ref seperates them.  Tatsu finally gets the hot tag and Goldust cleans house.  Sheamus was tagged in and Goldust gets pushed to Sheamus’ corner.  Benjamin tags himself in and blindsides Goldust for the win.

Winners:  Shelton Benjamin and Sheamus

Postmatch, Sheamus is upset that Benjamin tagged himself in and stole the win.  He decks Benjamin.  Benjamin gets up and fights back.  They brawl on the outside until the refs show up to break it up.  They start a feud here.  Is it another lame attempt to turn Benjamin face and try to make people care about him or is it a Sheamus face turn?  And when exactly did Benjamin turn heel anyway?

WooWooWoo.  Here comes Zack Ryder.  Rory Fargo is already in the ring.

Zack Ryder vs. Rory Fargo

Winner:  Zack Ryder

I like Ryder and I’m glad he’s not forgotten but I’m never FOR a squash.

Tyler Reks is in the back with Tiffany.  Reks says his favorite part of ECW is the people.  Regal and his Roundtable interrupt.  Regal says he doesn’t understand how Tiffany let Dreamer and Christian attack his men with weapons.  Tiffany says she let it go because they attacked Christian the last few weeks.  Regal says tonight Jackson and Kozlov will win and then Regal will take the championship at Breaking Point and make Tiffany proud.
