There’s something fascinating about seeing someone who truly enjoys their job having the ability to share it with the world. That’s the feeling one gets from Terry Schappert, host of the History Channel series Warriors.

In Warriors, Schappert experiences the life of warriors from the past and seemingly lives vicariously through them. Exploring the great battles and great warriors, as well as their weapons, Schappert discusses and actually uses everything he discusses with experts in the field.

Running only 10 episodes, the first season is infectious fun because of Schappert. A Green Beret with significant combat experience, Schappert is a warrior who takes his art seriously. So hearing him discuss warriors of various eras and battles he’s studied as part of his profession lends a much stronger gravitas to it then if it was an actor. The interesting thing is that the people who he interacts with, and we only get to see a small portion of what he probably did, show the same level of respect because of his position and status. These are warriors from different regions showing mutual respect to one another and it makes for good watching as Schappert gets them to talk about their warrior ways with candid detail.

The History channel is known for making compelling programming and Warriors is another reason not to doubt their expertise.

Presented in a full frame format with a Dolby Digital surround, the transfer is terrific. This is a very colorful series with intense scoring and it comes through wonderfully.

There is a Commentary Track on several episodes from Schappert. Schappert also has a brief Biography as well.

When it comes to programming, The History Channel is top notch. When it comes to extras, not so much. Warriors, however, is terrific enough to justify the viewing.
