Unified Tag Team Championship: Chris Jericho & Big Show v. MVP & Mark Henry

We got MVP and WSM here as noted by the matching attire, HA! So far there’s no Hart Dynasty, which would make my out-of-the-ballpark pick in the Roundtable seem just that. MVP and Jericho begin the match with a little bit of fun and games. Jericho isn’t having any of it as he regroups outside of the ring. We get a lockup and MVP forces Jericho in the corner. Back on the attack goes Jericho and he gets Show back in. Both men go for a clothesline and they connect, knocking each other down.

Both men get tags and MVP hits a monkey flip! To the corner we go and MVP evades contact and he scores a forearm. Jawbuster connects and MVP…goes…Ballin’! TWO COUNT ONLY! Jericho attempts the Walls, but MVP counters and he sends Jericho to the ropes. Tag from Show and MVP does not see it coming. SPEAR CONNECTS! Show attempts the Final Cut, but MVP fights it and Show hits a clubbing shot. Tag back to Jericho and he plays cocky with MVP. Chinlock applied by Jericho. MVP wills his way back to his feet and he gets a cradle for two. EXPLODING LARIAT BY MVP AND BOTH MEN ARE DOWN! Jericho blocks the tag and he hits Henry for good measure. Jericho takes MVP to the corner and he chokes away at him. MVP floats over an armdrag and hits an out-of-nowhere DDT! MVP can’t get the cover, so he tags in Henry. Headbutt by Henry and Jericho makes a mistake by going to the ropes. He gets caught and slammed on the mat. Splash connects and Show interrupts. MVP goes out, Show follows. Train wreck connects and Henry gets a two count – Jericho had a foot on the ropes. Codebreaker attempt by Jericho is countered to a toss. Legacy celebrates up the ramp and Josh Matthews is with Randy Orton to see his reaction to Legacy’s win. Orton asks Josh to have a seat to talk. Orton has no reaction because he knew Legacy would win. Josh goes to ask another question, but Randy cuts him off. He channels Chris Jericho by calling him a hypocrite. Orton asks how Cena is sure that he can’t say “I Quit”. He is going to make Cena quiver in pain…pain that no man has ever been in. He suggests that we watch the match tonight because Cena says one thing…Randy will make him say something else. Best Randy Orton promo I’ve seen.

New interviewer chick is with CM Punk. She wants some last minute thoughts. Punk will keep this brief. Nobody gave him a chance with Taker, but he proved everyone wrong and he got rid of Jeff for good. HE BRINGS UP JEFF BEING ARRESTED! HA HA HA! He then pokes fun at the French and he reminds us that he lives a clean life. He’s not intimidated…and the lights go off. It’s Jimmy Wang Yang and he wishes Punk luck. Punk goes emo on Wang and there is his contribution on Pay-Per-View. He’s still not worried about the Undertaker.

Time for ECW’s portion of the PPV. Will it last longer than eight seconds?

We get a cameo from the first ever Intercontinental Champion, Pat Patterson. He takes the mic and he talks about how he is the first Intercontinental Champion. He goes to introduce someone and out comes Dolph Ziggler. Patterson pokes fun at Ziggler a bit. He tells Ziggler that he has a great future and that if he’s lucky enough that he’ll be Intercontinental Champion. Ziggler wants the mic. He goes the cheap heat route. Oooh, retirement home joke. And for another bigger burn, he thought Patterson was dead. Ziggler instantly becomes an IWC favorite asking why we’re wasting time on PPV for this. STFU chants on Ziggler. Where’s this heading? Ziggler shoves Patterson, but he stands his ground. He then calls him a coward and he kicks him in the gut. He goes to leave the ring, but he wants to make a statement. Out comes John Morrison and Ziggler takes his leave.

So ask me this. Why did we axe this match, yet still had them on PPV? Hello? Where is logic?

He puts the keys around his neck and he places the cuffs on Cena. Cena is cuffed to the ropes and Orton plays with the key. It’s academic from here, but Cena won’t quit. Orton takes the microphone and he hits Cena with it. He unlocks the cuffs and he cuffs Cena’s hands together. He hangs Cena up on the ring post and he goes for the gut shots. Orton beats the hell out of Cena and he throws water on him. The ref asks Cena if he wanted to quit and his answer is water in Orton’s face. Orton chokes Cena away…LOW BLOW BY CENA! That stops Orton in his tracks and Cena gets free for the most part, but the welts are showing. Cena goes after Orton, but he was playing possum and he cracks Cena with the chair. Orton unlocks Cena from the cuffs and he cuffs Cena around the turnbuckle instead. Orton has the chair and he hits Cena with it in the back. Cena lets out a primal scream, but he still won’t quit. Orton is possessed and he uses the chair…only for Cena to evade it. Cena tosses Orton up and over and he yanks the key off Orton. Cena then handcuffs himself on Orton! Cena goes apes*it on Orton! Back inside the ring and he hits a side suplex. He picks Orton up for the Attitude Adjustment…countered to the RKO! Orton sees the key and he tries to drag Cena closer to the key. Cena won’t let Orton get it. Cena locks on the STF! Grade: …..

The Undertaker celebrates with the title…but Teddy Long hits the stage! He regrets to inform us that the Undertaker’s Hell’s Gate was banned a long time ago! Continuity! I forgot that Vickie Guerrero was a part of WWE a long time ago. Needless to say, the hold wasn’t unbanned, so the match has to restart.

CM Punk attacks Taker, but he eats a big boot. Taker goes for the Last Ride, but Punk slides out and he LOCKS ON THE ANACONDA VICE! The bell rings and TAKER DID NOT TAP! You are F*CKING KIDDING! The fix was in and the referee and Punk get the hell out of dodge. Montreal Screwjob 2009. Teddy Long seems to be in on the fix and the Undertaker is PISSED OFF!

The Final Grade for WWE Breaking Point: B-

The Pulse

The PPV had two awesome matches with Miz/Kingston & DX/Legacy, two good matches with Regal/Christian and the tag title match. Kane/Khali was watchable, but the main events left a lot to be desired. Sure, both of them told stories, but I can’t buy Cena beating Orton quickly after being raped for 15 minutes with handcuffs and kendo sticks. Punk/Taker was going good until the fix was in. I’m sure that this will make Punk/Taker at Hell in a Cell awesome…but did we NEED another Montreal Screwjob? Not only that, this one didn’t work as well as the fans seemingly didn’t give a crap. This PPV is lucky to get a B rating because the undercard delivered in spades. Recommendation to at least watch for the undercard, but to avoid for the main events.

See you all tomorrow for RAW!
