America's Next Top Model – Episode 13-1 Review

If being petite is so fabu, why does Wonderful Jay Manuel keep pointing out pictures that elongate and make certain girls look taller? Not to mention th 8″ heels that were among the factors winning angel-face Rae the Best Photo of the Night, and what a night it was!

In my 1st notes, I saw Amber as religious, then nutty and Brittany as trouble, Bianca as smart and Ashley as mature- I made a note that keeping Amber and Brittany as long as possible would be good drama. So much, however, for my directing, for at half time, Amber had left and was replaced by pretty Lisa who was later the 1st sent home, neck and neck with Bianca, who was a bit ‘told off’ for not liking this and that- ouch- most models have had that experience, although I will bet Tyra did not, I never did, and if any of my models ever did, they feared seeing me afterwards, because I taught them it was not their job to buy the clothes but to
sell them.

After make-overs, my favorites on first glance include the brave Courtney on crutches, Laura, LuLu, Rae, Bianca, Erin, and Jennifer. expressionless until the camera turns on, Nicole is an enigma. Not much is said about Brittany who, in an early make-up and model walk, ignores the make-up as she thinks she looks perfect the way she is…hmmmm can you spell Cover Girl?

AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL

Now, If you read any of my Preview, you know that I know Petite Models as well as anyone, and I was not surprised to see how little has changed- the pageant walk, the excessive amount of hair in proportion to body size, the great legs, and in many ways, prettier figures on smaller packages, and most of all, THE OVER-SEXUALITY! What is it? I could never figure it out why, but I always told my Petite Models that you do not get taller by posing like a Cabaret dancer- feet up on chairs, breasts squeezed in by arms, bending over- oh yawn- not even for the chorus of Chicago.

I wish there had been more shown, in fact, I would like to see more in every show, of Miss J. teaching the ladies to walk and move and I can never get enough of Jay talking them through shoots. I wish Jay would do a little tip or ‘show and tell’ for each girl before every shoot and give her (and us) a clue or two. Maybe I am nuts, but I think all of us in the audience would like to know how to pose and move more gracefully…dream-on.
