As expected, some of the headlines are pretty fun, but really the only major note is from the Politico which says that some in her Republican Party might use controversial WWE footage against her in the primary, which she will have to go through before qualifying to face current Democratic Senator Chris Dodd in the November 2010 election. Her GOP opponents are currently frontrunner Rep. Rob Simmons, former ambassador Tom Foley, state Senator Sam Caliguri and businessman Peter Schiff, and The Atlantic article says she has a serious political team in place behind-the-scenes (although they haven’t yet decided if WWE wrestlers will help her campaign).

Also of interest, PWTorch.com has posted some quotes from WWE COO Donna Goldsmith, who along with Chairman and now new CEO Vince McMahon will be doing a lot of the work Linda had been doing. These are from a ROTH Capital Partners conference that took place today in New York:

“She has been prepping us for a while on this,” Goldsmith said. “We have a host of people that are going to take those responsibilities with Vince assuming the CEO.”

“Vince is definitely involved in the day-to-day, but he’s more involved in the creative. He has left a lot of detail to me and the rest of the team,” Goldsmith said. “At the back-end of the week, he will definitely be involved! And he will be even more with Linda’s departure.”

In addition to talking about the team that will be doing Linda’s former workload, Goldsmith also talked about WWE’s TV expansion aspirations:

“Should we do another hour, two hours, our own network?,” she said, according to the Torch.
