10 Thoughts on ECW – 09.15.09

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

01. Has WWE given up on Regal as a main eventer? I think not. Personally I think we’ll be seeing Regal interfering in the main event between Christian and Ryder to cost Christian the belt. This may lead to a triple threat down the line.

02. I like Hurricane’s new shaggy look. It gives him a far more serious vibe than his previous laughable look.

03. Dangerous Busta! Now finally a real finishing move that actually suits Burchill.

04. I really liked the Goldust, Yoshi, Ryder segment. All three guys looked like they got over and made no one look like a joke. In fact I think this segment, and the laugh Goldust managed to get out of the audience here, helped him get over later in the show.

05. Zack Ryder is the future of the WWE. Well as long as he doesn’t end up on Raw. His theme music isn’t generic. It defines character completely. The fact that Striker sings the theme song actually manges to get Ryder over even more. And it’s not nearly as Striker repeating, “Swagga!”.

06. It’s actually really interesting watching Yoshi Tatsu decked out in Misawa colors. And I really loved Striker marking out at the roaring elbow. It actually got the move over as something impressive.

07. I think the main problem with the ECW guys is that although they have a ton of interesting and impressive moves, they’re usually thrown away and should be saved for down the line when they would really get over.

08. Goldust got over! Holy sheezballs! I can’t believe it! However Goldust definitely deserved it. His workrate was off the charts and the audience would definitely have been behind a Christian/Goldust match-up and after watching Dust’s performance here, I’d love to see it myself.

09. It really should have been Yoshi and Goldust in the finish instead of Dreamer and Goldust. The back and forth between Goldust and Ryder was fantastic at the end of the royale and the way Ryder managed to survive the backflip over the ropes was PPV worthy.

10. The show elevated both Zack Ryder and Yoshi Tatsu. One on one, Yoshi was the better wrestler. However in the battle royale, Ryder was the one who had the wits to squeak out the victory.
