Mayweather-Marquez Weigh-In Results

News

The combatants in tomorrow night’s “Number One/Numero Uno” boxing pay-per-view have weighed in. The televised undercard begins at 9pm ET. The weights for the main card are as follows:

Floyd Mayweather Jr (146) vs. Juan Manuel Marquez (142)
Chris John (126) vs. Rocky Juarez (126)
Michael Katsidis (135) vs. Vincente Escobedo (134)
Cornelius Lock (125) vs. Orlando Cruz (126)

The main event between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Juan Manuel Marquez was at a contracted weight of 147 pounds but carried penalties for anything over 144. This stipulation was just added to the contracts last night. Although the Mayweather camp was staying quiet about the weight limit, Marquez said his contract contained a 144 pound limit.

Nobody wins if this fight is called off so the last-minute change isn’t surprising, but I must say it’s disappointing. Mayweather Jr will ship a large portion of his fight purse over to Marquez for being two pounds overweight.
