Psych – Episode 4-6 Review

Shows

It’s nice to see them trying new things, like the special theme songs, but this episode just was not that good. It had a few laughable scenes but that was all. If I had to choose one thing good about this episode I would probably pick the Shawn-Abigail scenes. They are an adorable couple! I cannot deny that even though I am hoping for Shawn and Jules to get together.

Flashback: 1989, Shawn is writing a Valentine’s Day card. Henry comes over to offer him some advice. He helps Shawn until he finds out who the card is for, Mrs. Phillips.

Present: A Bollywood dancer named Mina goes outside to meet her boyfriend Raj. Mina is annoyed that they have to hide their relationship and says that they cannot really be a couple until he tells “her”. Raj tells Mina that he will soon. They start to kiss and get interrupted by Mina’s boss who needs her back on in two minutes. Raj leaves. Before going back inside Mina sits down to think dreamily. With her eyes closed she is unaware that a truck is rolling down the hill right at her. She opens her eyes and only has time to scream.

Shawn is giving Abigail a tour of the police department. They run into Juliet who does not stop rambling until Lassie interrupts. Lassie is unaffected by Shawn’s insults as he is about to solve a case in record time. Shawn and Abigail follow him with Shawn making more comments behind his back. Lassie tells them to leave and wait for him not to call. Shawn tells Abigail that he is just saying that to make it more dramatic when he has to call and ask for help.

Lassie goes into the interrogation room where Raj is waiting. Everything Raj says seems to be a confession until he says that it was his curse that has been going after his girlfriends. He leaves the room to go get Shawn. Shawn agrees to help as long as Abigail can watch.

Shawn goes into interrogation and starts putting on his show. He insists on calling Raj “Rajer” and tells him about his psychic powers. Raj is relieved that someone will understand him. Shawn does not know about the curse and starts freaking out as Rag tells him that he hurts people, many many people. Shawn moves increasingly father away from Raj as he continues until Raj says that he is cursed. As  Shawn takes that in at the same time that Lassie lets out a joyous scream. Raj asks Shawn for help and Shawn agrees.

Gus runs into the Psych office asking where the bunnies are. Shawn said he made that up to get him to come. Gus meets Raj and freaks out when he hears about the curse. Gus stays after he’s told that it is a love curse and that they are being paid.

All three of them head down to the crime scene where they run into Lassie and Jules. Juliet explains the situation and says they are unsure whether or not it was an accident just yet. They go inside the theater and meet Jay, the choreographer/Raj’s brother. Raj leaves to go check on Mina. Shawn and Gus talk to Jay who does not believe that there is any curse.

Shawn creates a ritual at Henry’s house to make Raj think that his curse is gone. Their performance is interrupted by Henry who has come back from food shopping. He is a little annoyed but just tells Shawn to clean it up.

Raj brings Mina flowers in her dressing room. For helping him out, Raj asks Mina if she could get Shawn and Gus tickets for the performance. Shawn and Gus observe the performance from the back wall. Lassie and Jules are there also because it looks like the truck incident was no accident after all. Shawn notices something weird about the floor Mina is dancing over. He runs up on stage just in time to catch her as the floor collapses. Raj is back to believing that he is cursed.

Shawn and Jules are looking over the hole in the floor. While they investigate they share their opinion of love curses. This accident was not cause by any love curse as they have found a nail made of plastic but painted over to look like metal. Not only did someone plan this but they were someone who knew that Mina would be at that spot.

Shawn, Gus, and Abigail make a trip over to Raj’s house. Reluctantly he lets them in and talks to them. They don’t talk to long when Raj’s grandmother asks who is there and they join their dinner. Raj warns them that his grandma likes to make the food spicy. Shawn and Gus defiantly ignore his warning and suffer a burning mouth. Abigail on the other hand is unaffected by the food’s spiciness because she once volunteered teaching english to children in Mumbai. At the table Jay and his fiancée Sita argue over specifications in the wedding.

At the station, Juliet is reviewing footage from a rehearsal and another one of the sabotaged performance. She notices that Mina was moved to a different position for the performance. Lassie gets a warrant to search Jay’s appartment.

Back at dinner there is a knock at the door. The police come in and arrest Jay because not only was he the choreographer he also was renting the truck that almost killed Mina.

To get a better understanding of the case, Shawn and Gus go talk to the other girls that Raj has dated. They all have a common thread, there is an accident and then Raj breaks up with them. Also whoever is doing it only strikes when Raj’s relationships get serious.

Juliet goes undercover as Raj’s girlfriend to lure the attacker out. After a couple of dates nothing happens. Juliet thinks it’s time to kick it up a notch. At the Holy Festival the upcoming weekend, she wants Raj to act like he’s going to marry her.

At the festival Juliet is annoyed that Raj’s grandmother does not like her. Shawn tells her to relax because she is not really marrying Raj. Raj goes up on stage and announces his engagement to Juliet. A short time later they find Raj in the woods holding his head. He says that he was attacked from behind and the next thing he knew Juliet was gone.

They find Juliet held at knife point by Sita. Shawn finally puts everything together. Sita is in love with Raj instead of Jay and has done everything in her power to be with him. Shawn is able to keep Sita’s attention so Jules can break free and take her down.

Shawn is finishing his tour with Abigail. He tells her that he was invited to Raj’s wedding but is not going to go. Abigail says that she was impressed with how he would lunged at a mad woman with a knife to save a random co-worker. Shawn slips that Juliet is not random, but quickly recovers saying he would have done it for anyone. Abigail takes his lie and suggests that they take a fake mugshot together. Shawn gets excited and runs off with her to find the key to the evidence room for props.
