10 Thoughts On SmackDown – 9.18.09

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

1. Despite the fact that Chris Jericho and the Big Show are currently involved in the John Cena/ Randy Orton feud on RAW they’re still being put into some kind of storyline with Batista. And let’s not forget that in this storyline, there will be a very good chance that they will both get fed to Batista to put him over on SmackDown. Then again, who ever heard of putting the tag team champions into a tag team feud? Apparently not WWE.

2. WWE made the right move by holding off on the Intercontinental Championship match. A match with one week’s worth of build up would never be entertaining and so far Morrison and Ziggler have proven they can provide a good midcard feud. Hopefully the actual match with be as entertaining as the other matches these two have put on with other superstars.

3. What else did people expect the referee to say? I’m pretty sure everyone already assumed he did it to keep his job and he’s the last person involved in the storyline that anyone is interested in.

4. Please tell me with this match they are going to end the Michelle McCool vs. Melina feud. I don’t think I can take another segment where both of them get to speak.

5. I will admit that I am intrigued by the screwjob angle. Even Theodore Long is saying he did it ‘for his job’ which could mean there is some unknown mastermind behind it. In my opinion they need to make that mastermind Shane McMahon, because there isn’t enough of the best McMahon on WWE TV right now.

6. It’s great to see CM Punk finally using ‘Straight edge means I’m better than you’. His heel work on the independent scene was some of the best stuff I’ve witnesses to its great to see WWE finally letting CM Punk play the straight edge cocky heel he works best at.

7. Another match between Cryme Time and the Hart Dynasty? This just further shows how shallow WWE’s tag team talent pool is. When the same tag teams are fighting just weeks after engaging in a feud, and not even with anything other than bragging rights being up for grabs, then it gets to the point where I find it difficult to care what the tag teams are doing.

8. The only good thing about having yet another Kane vs. Khali match is that it appears WWE have written Khali off of television. While Khali has the occasional entertaining segment I am certainly not going to miss his lacklustre feud with Kane.

9. Drew McIntyre is certainly becoming a firm favourite of mine. I don’t know what it is about the guy but whenever he’s on screen I am entertained.

10. So hopefully the WWE are not going to give Batista a partner and let him challenge for the tag titles because let’s face it, whenever Batista gets a title he immediately gets injured. Thinking about it, give him the title and let’s hope his curse continues.
