According to Variety, the Oscar winning writer of the recent box office flop Jennifer’s Body will adapt the 1980s book series Sweet Valley High into a movie. (Yep, she’s still stuck in high school.)

The book series was written by Francine Pascal and centered around beautiful twin sisters Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield as they encountered typical teen issues like dating, fashion, and friends. The series ran from 1983 to 2003 and spawned several spin-off series including Sweet Valley Kids (in which the twins were second graders), Sweet Valley Twins (in which the twins were middle school aged), The Unicorn Club, and Sweet Valley University. The popular series also had a TV series, board games, and other merchandising.

Growing up, I was a fan of the book series, and read both Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley High. As a fan of the books and not really a fan of Cody’s, I still think she’s a perfect pick to bring this franchise into modern day movie theaters. Stay tuned as we will bring you all the latest news as this story develops!

Jenny is proud to be the First Lady of Inside Pulse Movies. She gives female and mommy perspective, and has two kids who help with rating family movies. (If they don't like 'em, what's the point?) She prefers horror movies to chick flicks, and she can easily hang with the guys as long as there are several frou-frou girlie drinks to be had.
