The Office – Episode 6-02 Review

Top Story

On this week’s, David makes a visit to the office during Michael’s busiest time of year while Pam tries to complete her rundown of guests to the wedding. Toby and Dwight bond over a workman’s comp issue.

David Wallace visits the office for a meeting with Jim that Michael is mysteriously left out from. Michael grills Pam about the nature of the meeting, warning that her baby will be born a liar
if she doesn’t tell him the truth.

Meanwhile, Darryl files for workman’s compensation after falling off of a ladder in the warehouse. Dwight butts into his meeting with Toby, sparking an investigation into whether or not Darryl is telling the truth.

Pam discusses how her plans for a wedding purposely out of driving range of most of her co-workers were shot down by Michael promising anyone who RSVPs two extra days off.

Despite admitting this to be his busiest quarter, Michael obsessively watches the conference room from afar.

“You know when they say ‘It’s so crazy it just might work’? I don’t believe that. I say go for the air-tight plan. And that’s why I’m having Andy wheel me into the conference room in a make-shift cheese cart. It’s just…elegant.”

Michael hides inside of a poorly prepared cart of cheese that Andy rolls into the conference room, which Andy actually does present elegantly. Unfortunately, David and Jim conclude their meeting just as Michael is wheeled in.

Toby and Dwight bond, listening to the pitches of trains passing near Darryl’s home…who they are spying on. They spot Darryl not using crutches to carry a large bag of dog food, leading to the most furious Toby outburst ever:
“You a**hole! Are you gonna eat all that dog food yourself?!”

The person carrying the bag turns out to be Darryl’s sister, and Darryl bursts from the house on crutches to find Dwight and Toby speeding away.

David and Michael meet in his office, discussing if Jim is suited for a management position. Michael compares Jim to Big Bird, somehow tying this into a lack of leadership. Michael also presents Jim’s record of misconduct as written by Toby as evidence against him. David mentions Jim’s suggestion of Michael being promoted to overseeing all branches in the northeast, while Jim is promoted to regional manager. He stresses that Jim has another job offer and they need to make a decision soon.

“I didn’t tell Michael because I thought he’d try to help. Example: he handed out jello-shots at the 23rd mile of the Steamtown marathon.”

Michael refuses Jim’s idea to David, too stubborn to move from his current position and find someone else to replace Jim who he has deemed irresponsible. Jim asks Michael into his office and accuses Michael of ruining his chance at a promotion. Michael has a change of heart and they call David together in an attempt to reverse his decision. Despite Michael’s efforts, David is pulled over for talking on his cell and Jim abruptly leaves disappointed.

Darryl storms into the annex with his sister to confront Toby and Dwight and tells them he’s filing complaints about them to corporate. However, Toby and Dwight go down to the warehouse and find that the crew has been using the scissor lift as an elevator and there is a piece of railing missing which Dwight posits is from Darryl trying to jump over to the lift. Darryl and his sister try to intimidate Dwight over rescinding his accusation, but both end up filing complaints against each other, leaving Toby in a sea of paperwork. Case closed.

David calls back with an idea to have Michael and Jim working together as co-branch managers to handle the workload. They all agree to the idea, much to Dwight’s dismay.
