Since WWE began having celebrity guest hosts for each edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, there have been talks about which mainstream celebrities and former wrestlers would be brought in.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is reportedly unopposed to the idea of being a Raw guest host, which would be a huge ratings bonanza for Raw and USA network. He has already recorded a promo to air on Smackdown this week, as well as his recent surprise indie appearance leading to further speculation about a Raw guest host gig.

The Tooth Fairy, Johnson’s next blockbuster, is set to be released in theatres on January 22, 2010, and given all guest hosts have been promoting something (a book, a movie, etc), it is currently believed the Rock could guest host Raw in mid January, possibly January 18th, 2010 (the Monday before the movie release).

WWE and USA network might want to use a major appearance like the Rock to pop a rating during a sweeps month such as November or February, or use the Rock in a three hour Raw to help USA network win the cable ratings war.

Updated: The Rock has confirmed he will be hosting in the future in a video promo on this week’s Smackdown (contains spoilers)
