2009 Fox Reality Really Award Nominees Announced (With Murtz Predictions)

On Friday, Fox Reality announced its 2009 Really nominees in the annual Reality Awards show. I will be in Hollywood to cover the event live and will have a former reality show winner as my date. Stay tuned to find out who…

In the meantime, here’s the full list of categories and nominees along with my predictions.

Really Favorite Host/Judge
Tom Bergeron (Dancing With The Stars)
Ryan Seacrest (American Idol)
Phil Keoghan (Amazing Race)
Jeff Probst (Survivor)
Nigel Lythgoe (So You Think You Can Dance)
J. Alexander (America’s Next Top Model)
Mary Murphy (So You Think You Can Dance)

Murtz’s Prediction: Jeff Probst won the Emmy, and he should win here, but for some reason, I think it is going to be Mary Murphy just for the speech. As much as this is an Awards show, make no mistake about it… it is just as much a reality show as the ones it is applauding. In that regard, Murphy’s speech would beat everyone else’s.

Really OMG Moment
The Break-Up Of Danity Kane (Making The Band)
Jason/Molly/Melissa Triangle (The Bachelor)
Teresa vs. Danielle (The Real Housewives Of New Jersey)
The Breakup Show (Jon & Kate Plus 8 )
Spencer Vs. Frangela (I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Outta Here!)

Murtz’s Prediction: It’s a no-brainer for me. It’s gotta be Jon & Kate, given all of the mainstream headlines. I am just not sure if either will be there to accept. If not, I’ll go with The Bachelor triangle.

Really Favorite Duo
Joan & Melissa (Celebrity Apprentice)
Tori & Dean (Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood)
Jeff & Jordan (Big Brother)
Tammy & Victor (The Amazing Race)
Tiny & Toya (Tiny & Toya)
Farrah & Ashley (Charm School)

Murtz’s Thoughts: This is a tough category. Personally, I would give it Joan and Melissa. They were hysterical. Same for Farrah & Ashley But America absolutely adored Jeff and Jordan on Big Brother and I think this one is theirs to lose. Victor and Tammy are really good friends of mine so I am personally pulling for them.

Really Favorite Villain
Janice Dickenson (I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Outta Here!)
Spencer Pratt (I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Outta Here!)
Wes Hayden (The Bachelorette)
Chima Simone (Big Brother)
Kim “Poprah” Kearney (I Want To Work For Diddy)

Murtz’s Thoughts: I have to give props to Fox Reality. They have done a much better job of selecting the right nominees this year. I am torn on this one. But I think Janice and Spencer will split the votes (wait a minute, who votes for this thing anyway?) and it will be a race between Chima and Wes. Both are solid choices. I will go with Wes, only because I am not sure Chima will be given a microphone again to accept.

Really Totally Robbed
Adam Lambert (American Idol)
Jonathan Ward (Make Me A Supermodel)
Tailor Made (I Love Money)
Taj Johnson-George (Survivor Tocantins)
Mark Long (The Duel 2)
Gilles Marini (Dancing With The Stars)

Murtz’s Thoughts: Adam Lambert. Period. Let’s move on.

Really Favorite Performer
Hammer (Hammertime)
Joan Rivers (Celebrity Apprentice)
Kim Zolciak (Real Housewives of Atlanta)
Terrell Owens (TO Show)
Antonio Sabato Jr. (My Antonio)

Murtz’s Thoughts: I’ll go with Joan Rivers on this one.

Really Best Docu-Series
The Hills
Deadliest Catch
Keeping Up With The Kardashians
My Life On The D-List
Real World
Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew
Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels

Murtz’s Thoughts: No clear favorite here. I’ll go with The Kardashians, but I am just flipping an educated coin.

**UPDATE** Okay, Emilee Fitzpatrick has informed me that it is The Real World: Cancun that is nominated and not The Real World: Brooklyn as I originally believed. If it is Cancun, I believe this is a no-brainer. Cancun was the best season of the show since Vegas and featured the most threesomes I have ever seen on a single season reality shows. If I know one thing about Reality Award shows, it’s that threesomes will be rewarded. Go with Cancun over Kardashians.

Really Best Competition Series
Top Chef
American Idol
America’s Got Talent
So You Think You Can Dance
Dancing With The Stars

Murtz’s Thoughts: I will never go against Survivor, but I have been digging Top Chef a lot lately as their casting has been quite strong in recent seasons.

Really Favorite Hottie
Ray J (For The Love Of Ray J)
Audrina Patridge (The Hills)
Kim Kardashian (Keeping Up With The Kardashians)
Antonio Sabato Jr. (My Antonio)
Gretchen Rossi (Real Housewives Of OC)
Karina Smirnoff (Dancing With The Stars)

Murtz’s Thoughts: I am shocked that Megan Hauserman wasn’t nominated here, and actually most of the nominees surprise me. I will go with Audrina.

Innovator Award Recipient: Paris Hilton

Murtz’s Thoughts: Hilarious. I can’t wait!

Legend Award: Jonathan Murray

Murtz’s Thoughts: I should have won this.
