ECW Real-Time Coverage for 9/29/2009

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

Welcome to the EC-Dub!

We start off with William Regal informing us that GM Tiffany was involved in a car wreck and will not be in tonight.  Regal will be the interim GM due to his past experience.  However, he cannot make any decisions involving the ECW Championship.  He can, however, make a 4 on 1 handicap match tonight.  Regal, Vladimir Kozlov, Ezekiel Jackson and Zack Ryder vs. Christian.

Tony Atlas is introduced and he in turn introduces Abraham Washington.  It’s time for the Abraham Washington Show.  Applause sign!  Washington reminds us that Hell in a Cell is this weekend.  He introduces the intercontinental champion, John Morrison.  Morrison takes a seat and grabs a mic.  Morrison promotes his shirt on wweshop.com.  Morrison says it’s great to be back on ECW.  He tells Atlas he likes his laugh.  Morrison says he likes what Washington does on the show.  Washington reminds us of the Dirt Sheet.  Morrison takes a shot at Miz and Atlas does a hilarious impression of the Miz.  Morrison says his opponent Dolph Ziggler reminds him of the Miz.  They are both delusional.  Morrison says he will win this Sunday.  Ziggler’s music hits and here he comes.  He is wearing an ugly vest (so says my wife).  Washington says this isn’t Rocky IV and he can’t just walk in here.  He’ll go Apollo Creed on him.  Morrison reminds Washington that Dolph killed Creed in Rocky IV.  Nice.  Ziggler tries to talk, but Morrison cuts him off and says “say goodnight Mr. Ziggles”.  Ziggler looks mad.  Atlas tells him good night as well.  The show ends and Morrison leaves and Ziggler looks angry.

Regal is on the phone in the back and is presumably defending his decision to make the 4 on 1 match.  Ryder comes to the back and says he can take Christian on himself.  Regal says that the board overrode his decision and now it’s Regal, Kozlov, Ryder, and Jackson vs. Christian, Tommy Dreamer, Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust.  Ryder says he doesn’t like the way Regal manages things and leaves.

We’re back and your hosts are Josh Matthews and Matt Striker from Boston, MA.

Paul Burchill heads to the ring with his sister Katie Lea.  Shelton Benjamin follows.  We get a recap of his feud with Shaemus.  As Benjamin heads to the ring, Shaemus attacks him from behind and rams him into the ringpost.  He stomps on him and continues the onslaught.  He rolls Benjamin into the ring for his match.

Paul Burchill (w/ Katie Lea) vs. Shelton Benjamin

Benjamin is hurting in the ring and the ref asks him if he wants to start the match.  Apparently he said yes and the match begins.  Burchill hammers him in the corner.  Belly to back suplex and a cover for a two count.  Burchill puts the boots to Benjamin.  Cover for two.  Short arm clothesline from Burchill.  He goes to work on the left arm of Benjamin.  Benjamin gets to his feet and starts to fight back.  Burchill takes control again and throws him shoulder first into the ringpost.

Commercial break.

Back to the action and Burchill has Benjamin in an armlock.  Benjamin gets to his feet and punches his way out of the predicament.  Burchill counters with another belly to back suplex, however.  Cover for two and Burchill goes right back to the armlock.  Benjamin fights back but Burchill counters to a suplex which Benjamin counters to a neckbreaker.  Both men up and Benjamin runs into an elbow.  Stomps from Burchill.  Burchill has him in the corner and lifts him to the top rope.  He goes for the superplex but Benjamin punches him off.  Benjamin goes to the top turnbuckle and misses a ?moonsault?  Burchill with a huge knee drop.  Back to work on Benjamin’s arm.  Benjamin throws Burchill headfirst into the turnbuckle.  Burchill goes off the ropes and Benjamin hits him with a surprise Paydirt.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Pretty boring match.

Roll and a kick.  He goes to the top rope and hits the spinning heel kick.  Cover broken up by Jackson.  Goldust takes out Jackson, Kozlov takes out Goldust and Dreamer takes out Kozlov.  Christian and Ryder take each other out and Tatsu gets the KICK on William Regal and gets the win!

Not a bad tag team to end it.

See you next week, kids.
