Gossip Girl – Episode 3-6 Review

chuck
Wow, everyone was in on the scheming this week! And THAT kiss. Come on, you know which one I’m talking about. Read on…

The Vanessa/Blair war is still on as they fight to give the freshmen toast at the NYU family dinner. Neither of them realize that the school wants Olivia (Hilary Duff) to give it because let’s face it, she’s famous and it’s good publicity.

I love that Blair has found some college girls to torture. “THANK YOU AMALIA!” Haha. Love it. Blair enlists Chuck (unbeknownst to him) to help her blackmail the NYU rep into giving her the toast over Vanessa. He ends up kissing Chuck, which was kinda hot! I wouldn’t mind seeing Chuck explore this more…anyway, Blair gets the toast. The best part was when Chuck said, “I’m upset because I kissed somebody who wasn’t you. You really think I’ve never kissed a guy before?” Aw. I love Chuck Bass.

Serena and Nate are scheming to get Carter back (Nate doesn’t really care about Carter so much as he does getting back at the Buckleys) and end up playing cards with PJ Buckley, the brother of the girl Carter proposed to. Nate offers up a photo of Tripp doing drugs to help release Carter. But in reality, he hid from Serena that it was a fake photo to help Tripp win the election. Basically, when released, the photo would make the Buckleys look like they planted it. Yeah, I had a hard time keeping up with this too. Got a little confusing. But in the end, Serena finds out and isn’t so happy with Nate.

Rufus and Lily meet Vanessa’s mom. Vanessa begs Blair to let her give the speech because her mom disapproves of the college so much. And Blair is her usually bitchy self. Vanessa upsets her mother by saying she wishes Lily and Rufus were her parents. Ouch.

Also, Vanessa isn’t so innocent this episode as she lies to both Dan and Olivia. She convinces Dan that Olivia is nervous about meeting his parents and convinces her that Dan’s parents don’t like Hollywood-type girls. All of this so that she gets the speech over Olivia. So Olivia is a complete snob to Lily and Rufus on purpose after listening to Vanessa. She and Dan realized they were lied to and confront her. Another long and twisted storyline. Either way, Olivia has dinner with the Humphreys and everything is OK.

Chuck is pissed after finding out that Blair used him. She apologizes sincerely and for now, it seems he just wants a little time to think. Carter shows up at Serena’s and tell her to back off and stop fighting his fights. He doesn’t want her pity. She cries. And finally, Vanessa and Blair share some pastries as they sit in silence, accepting the fact that they both messed up.

I really enjoyed this episode! And I am still loving the Serena and Nate interactions. I really hope they revisit their relationship. Stay tuned!
