In what was billed as the biggest fight in Polish history, former cruiserweight and light heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek moved up to the heavyweight division and defeated Andrew Golota by 5th round TKO. Adamek was faster than the 41-year-old Golota and used his speed to land combinations at will. Golota went down in the first round and once in the 5th. After beating the count in the 5th round, Golota was swarmed by Adamek until referee Bill Clancy stopped the bout.

Tomasz Adamek improved to 39-1 (27 KOs) with the win. Golota, best known for twice being disqualified against Riddick Bowe for low blows, falls to 41-8-1.
