Get ‘em or Don’t Sweat ‘em Week 7

There were some unusual heroes on Sunday. There always are. Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.

Alex Smith, QB, San Francisco 49ers – If you are in a two QB league and Smith is named the starter, he’s worth picking up.  Otherwise, pay him no mind for now.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Buffalo Bills – Fitzpatrick was under Center for the Bills’ second straight Win, but did little to distinguish himself.  He may have some value in two QB leagues, but he’s not a lock to start next week.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Shonn Greene, RB, New York Jets – With Leon Washington gone for the year, meet the week’s biggest waiver wire addition.  He ran very well, though it was against the Raiders.  He should be owned in all leagues going forward.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Beanie Wells, RB, Arizona Cardinals – Beanie is another Rookie RB that played well in Week 7.  He ran with authority against a tough Giants D.  I endorsed him as a Second-Half Stasher in last week’s Fourth & 1 Debate, and he sure looked like a guy to own going forward.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Chad Simpson, RB, Indianapolis Colts
– Simpson filled in as Joseph Addai’s backup when Donald Brown went down.  If Brown is out for an extended period, Simpson is worth considering as a handcuff.  Don’t get rid of anyone decent though.
Ruling:  Don’t Get ‘em.

Mike Wallace, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers – This is a passing team now and Wallace is in the mix as the third receiver.  He will be inconsistent, like Nate Washington last year, but is worth owning.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Sam Aiken, WR, New England Patriots – This is really a two-man show with Randy Moss and Wes Welker.  Aiken scored, but is not worth picking up.  He only got 3 looks.  He’s about as useful to own as Benjamin Watson.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Sammie Stroughter, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sammy had his second straight decent game.  With a bye week coming up though, there’s no point grabbing him.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

David Clowney, WR, New York Jets – He had a nice game (4 catches, 79 yards, TD), but the Jets were banged up at WR and let’s face it, they are a running team.  Let someone else chase the box score.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Brian Hartline, WR, Miami Dolphins – Hartline had a nice game (3, 94) in a near upset of New Orleans, but he had done little before this outburst.  Miami is a run-first team and seem to switch their lead receiver each week.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Gary Barnidge, TE, Carolina Panthers
– Barnidge caught his first three passes for 77 yards, but I wouldn’t suggest picking up a fluke player on a run-first team.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
