Lucy Kate Hale has been keeping busy since the demise of Privileged.
The 20-year-old is finishing negotiations to star in the nearly ordered ABC Family pilot for the drama Pretty Little Liars, based on the Alloy Entertainment novel series by Sara Shepard, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The outrageous series is a mix of Desperate Housewives and I Know what You Did Last Summer. In the seventh grade, Alison was the Queen Bee among her four friends and knows a deep dark secret about each of them. When she goes missing after a slumber party, never to be seen again, the girls are somewhat relieved.
Fast-forward three years later, and each of the girls start receiving threatening text messages and emails from “A,” delving into their new, deep dark secrets that include sleeping with the wrong people (a teacher, sister’s boyfriend), criminal activity and budding homosexuality. At first it appears that “A” may be Alison, but after her body is found, the mysterious messages continue.
Hale plays the artsy Aria who has one of those aforementioned inappropriate relationships.
Hale recently starred in the Lifetime movie Sorority Wars and on the big screen in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.
