Brock Lesnar out indefinitely due to continued health problems

The UFC 105 pre-fight press conference involved talk of Mike Swick, Dan Hardy, Randy Couture, and Brandon Vera. However, Brock Lesnar stole the show, as Dana White announced further health problems will keep the UFC heavyweight champion out indefinitely.

Dana White was quoted as saying that Lesnar is “not well, and not getting any better” in the press conference.

Lesnar has been suffering from mononucleosis for some time now. While up in Canada, the UFC champ collapsed due to his health issues.

“He dropped up there and had to go to the hospital,” stated White in the press conference. “He’s not going to be getting well anytime soon.”

There is no further word as to the career implications these health problems will cause, but Lesnar will be out indefinitely. The champion was first scheduled to fight Shane Carwin at UFC 106 next weekend, but was forced to withdraw. The fight was tentatively speculated for UFC 108, but that is not happening either.

Possible options for the heavyweight division may include an interim title fight between Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez now that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is out of UFC 108 with a severe staph infection. The only certainty is the Lesnar will be sidelined for a substantially longer amount of time than any had expected one month ago.
