Jesus Chavez Jr vs. Troy Rowland

Round 1: Chavez is rocking a headband and looking a lot like The Karate Kid. I don’t expect this one to last very long. Chavez starts slow in a feeling out process. Chavez is also sporting some John Stockton shorts. Rowland is trying to outbox Chavez to no avail.

Round 2: More jabs in this round with a total lack of power punches. Which makes it a very boring fight to watch. Chavez lands a nice left followed by a body shot. Rowland is a game opponent so far but Chavez is landing the more effective punches.

Round 9: So anyone see any good movies lately? This fight is boring me to the extent that I might not want to watch boxing any longer. Rowland is fighting valiantly in the absence of any offense from Chavez. Rowland is more active and steals the round.

Rowland 10-9

Round 10: Chavez closes the show as he should, but it’s one of those shows you wish you never watched. Rowland fought to the best of his abilities, but he’s just not in the same league as Chavez. Unfortunately, we don’t really know what league Chavez is in until he steps up in competition.

Cotto once again seems to be retreating, akin to the Margarito fight. The pressure from Manny is intense. Cotto just seems to want a break longer than the minute in between each round provides.

Seems like an odd stoppage. Cotto wasn’t in any danger at that point and was still protecting himself valiantly. If Bayless were to stop the fight due to the competitive nature he should have done so earlier.
