J.R., Dutch Mantell Blog On Lesnar, Jarrett, UFC/WWE

News

J.R.’s latest blog entry includes his thoughts on Brock Lesnar’s health, and why he’s still taking a personal interest in it despite Lesnar having moved on from WWE:

Brock Lesnar’s health is one of the things that I am thinking a great deal about these days. As former OU and Dallas Cowboy coach Barry Switzer once told me, “You recruit a kid for life” and that’s how I feel about all the guys I signed for WWE including Austin, Rock, Orton, Batista, Cena, Lesnar etc. Management and the talents may not always see eye to eye, such as the case during Lesnar’s exit from WWE, but that has zero to do with how I feel about Brock personally. Business is business and personal relationships are something entirely different to me. It’s not always that way in wrestling by the way. Brock is a gifted athlete who, like me, was a country boy who made it to the bright lights of the “big city.”

On Shane McMahon’s possible jump to MMA, the reaction of MMA purists on the ‘net, and how little he thinks of that:

Speaking of MMA, apparently their message boards are “going crazy” about the alleged meetings with former wrestling personnel meeting with UFC officials in the past week or so. I don’t know the nature of these alleged meetings nor is it any of my business but the knee jerk reactions of MMA message board people because these folks have backgrounds in pro wrestling indicates that there are some ignorant, insecure people hiding behind screen names on these boards.

Hypothetically that would be like me going to work in MMA working with talent and people thinking it would be a travesty. Those folks can kiss my ample, Oklahoma arse as I feel that if one has the ability to work successfully with athletes that it doesn’t matter whether they are wrestlers, MMA fighters, football players or whatever.

He also talks about tonight’s Raw, Survivor Series, the new Hulk Hogan DVD, and Randy Savage’s birthday (which is today). He also caps things off with an update on his health:

Waiting on some blood work results today or tomorrow. I feel in my heart that they will be good results. Facial nerves, nonetheless, regenerate at their own pace and so here I sit. I’m better though and will not miss a beat when I sit back in an announcer’s chair when and on whatever program that may be.

In other wrestler/blogger news, former TNA booker Dutch Mantell wrote about his match with Jeff Jarrett on his blog. He also added a lengthy story about wrestling in Japan and how fun that was (i.e. not at all):

When the match started, Maeda came after me like a banshee. I don’t know how banshees really come at you but I figure they must be pretty aggressive little bastards. He attacked me and started wailing away like I’d stolen something from him. I started wailing back. He hit hard and I hit hard. Hell, I had to hit hard. He was killing me. He wasn’t hitting me in the face but he was throwing forearms and kicks out of nowhere and they were connecting. But Maeda had more juice that night. Hell, he should have had more juice. I had been awake for 24 hours. I didn’t know that sleep deprivation was included on the job requirements. I finally got him stopped or should I say he stopped himself when blew up beating the crap out of me. The finish of the match came unexpectedly. Out of nowhere, Maeda delivered a spinning back heel kick from HELL that knocked my ass out. He bloodied my eye, my mouth and my nose all with one kick. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought I’d had sex with his wife or something. I don’t think I’ve been hit harder in street fights.
