Round #17

Big Andy Mac of International World Class All Star Professional Championship Wrestling Global Alliance and Grappling Arts Federation Unlimited (IWCASPCWGAAGAFU) selects Matt Bentley.

This guy could be one of the top stars in the world if given the proper venue. He won’t be getting hit with kendo sticks or wearing stupid makeup. Michael Shane will simply be doing what he does best and that is being a cocky bastard who wrestles. We have big plans for Shawn Michaels’ cousin.

Pulse Glazer of Pro Wrestling Company (PWC) selects Go Shiozaki.

The top star in NOAH, Go is a younger, more mobile Kenta Kobashi. He has all the tools to take him to the top of any promotion, from stiff strikes, to powerful head drops and even some flying- Go mixes his great skill with even greater ring presence. He’s a true star.

Mark Allen of Prime Championship Wrestling (PCW) selects “The Con Man” Rob Conway.

Rob Conway has had potential that was never realized. He has the look, the fundamentals and the charisma to be a main event level superstar. This will be his chance to make it happen.

Steven Gepp of Generic Wrestling Promotion #25 (GNW-25) selects Mimic.

Mimic was a fighting RCW champion until defeated by his brother. He has the technical ability borne of an amateur wrestling background, but also high flying ability and he can brawl with the best of them. His work ethic is off the scale. But to give you a quick idea, here he completes a Spanish fly and here are highlights of the match between the brothers. Mimic is a welcome addition to our roster!

Raffi Shamir of Just Pro Wrestling (JPW) selects Kevin Nash.

Is he a good wrestler? No. Is he one of the best talkers in wrestling? Definitely. Can he help make new stars? Without a doubt. While his best days (Which many would argue were mediocre at best) are behind him, Kevin Nash can still contribute to any organization. Nash will help JPW create a new generation of wrestling superstars and make the promotion better.

Grey Scherl of Real Ass Pro Wrestling (RAPW) selects Chavo Guerrero.

Wait? You mean the guy that is in the shit program with the midget on Raw? What good can he do? Plenty, to be honest. Chavo is a damn fine worker when he’s allowed to actually show what he’s got, as can be evidenced throughout his career from his feuds with people like Eddie, Rey, hell, his entire time in the WCW cruiserweight division. Chavo is a solid worker, and beyond that, he’s a Guerrero. And RAPW? We’re going to treat him like one.

Roy Reynolds of Full Force Wrestling (FFW) selects Naofumi Yamamoto (formerly known as Yoshi Tatsu).

Yoshi Tatsu is on his way to becoming one of the most successful Japanese wrestlers in WWE history. At the moment, Yoshi is my favorite wrestler in all of World Wrestling Entertainment. His skill and charisma may even lead him to an ECW Championship shot at an upcoming pay-per-view. With all that said, FFW is more than pleased to add one of the hottest stars in all of wrestling to their roster.

Michael O’Mahony of Lost Art Wrestling (LAW) selects Michelle McCool.

McCool’s improvement as a performer over the last few years has been nothing short of phenomenal. Originally a diva search loser saddled with a series of awful gimmicks and terrible opposition, she seemed destined to be a dull failure. In recent times, though, McCool has begun to show her true potential, gaining confidence and skill between the ropes, and playing a dominant heel role that has set her head and shoulders above her WWE peers. LAW believes the best of Michelle McCool is yet to come, and sees her as a key player in its women’s division.

David Brashear of New Generation Wrestling (NGW) selects Touru Owashi.

Once Touru Owashi was on top of the world. He was the leader of Aagan Iisou and warred with CIMA for dominance of Toryumon. After the entire stable was released from Toryumon in 2004, Owashi faded from prominence. Now, however, the massive wrestler makes his way to NGW. Will he seek to renew his war with CIMA? Will he battle Samoa Joe to prove who is the superior heavyweight? Or will he simply destroy everyone in his path?

Round #18

David Brashear of New Generation Wrestling (NGW) selects HARASHIMA and KUDO.

Once, KUDO and a man known as Hero formed a team that captured tag team gold in DDT. As time passed, the team disintegrated and Hero morphed first to Darkside Hero, and then began competing under his given name – HARASHIMA. Now, these men have agreed to put their past behind them as they journey to NGW in search of more title gold. But, like so many others, will they be satisfied with only tag gold, or will they quest for the heavyweight and cruiserweight belts as well?

Michael O’Mahony of Lost Art Wrestling (LAW) selects Awesome Kong.

A well-traveled competitor with a hard-hitting style and a unique look, Kong would main event the women’s scene wherever she went. LAW sees her as a centerpiece in its women’s division and a driving force in its quest to legitimize female wrestling in North America.

Roy Reynolds of Full Force Wrestling (FFW) selects Mickie James.

Not only is Mickie James cute as a button, but she also has won the WWE Women’s Championship four times and the WWE Divas Championship once. In this year’s PWI 500, she was ranked number one as the best female singles wrestler. James will only add to the amount of potential that the FFW women’s division has, alongside Alissa Flash. Welcome aboard, Mickie.

Grey Scherl of Real Ass Pro Wrestling (RAPW) selects Stevie Richards.

Why Stevie? Well, we’ve always been big fans of him here at RAPW, whether he be wrestling, working a mic, or even hosting an audio hotline under an assumed name. The man is multi talented and rarely gets his due. We just intend to give it to him this time around.

Raffi Shamir of Just Pro Wrestling (JPW) selects Natalya.

The third member of The Hart Dynasty is more than just a valet or a manager. As the daughter of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, she’s wrestling royalty. She’s as deadly inside the ring as she is outside the ring and she proves that wrestling ability does run in her genes. With this acquisition JPW completes the full Hart Dynasty.

Steven Gepp of Generic Wrestling Promotion #25 (GNW-25) selects “Jag” Hartley Jackson.

Jag is regarded as the best wrestler in Australia. He is the mainstay of NWAPro in Australia and it was his efforts that helped Australia receive an NWA franchise. He has appeared in the USA and Japan. He also has great ability on the mic. Having this man join GNW-25 is a coup and we welcome him.

Mark Allen of Prime Championship Wrestling (PCW) selects Ken Doane.

Just a little over two years ago Kenny looked to have the wrestling world in his hands. He was on track to becoming the youngest World Champion in history. Then it all fell apart. Now after some seasoning and maturity away from the bright lights, the former cheerleader is ready to show the world that all that potential isn’t going to go to waste.

Pulse Glazer of Pro Wrestling Company (PWC) selects Kenta Kobashi.

PWC selects none other than Kenta Kobashi. Part of this draft assumes the health of its participants and healthy Kobashi may be the best wrestler in the world and is certainly the biggest draw in Japan. Ko-ba-shi!

Big Andy Mac of International World Class All Star Professional Championship Wrestling Global Alliance and Grappling Arts Federation Unlimited (IWCASPCWGAAGAFU) selects Takeshi Morishima.

Morishima is certainly one of the more versatile big men out there today and can easily work in a federation of mostly smaller wrestlers as he did during his RoH run. He will be a welcome addition to the Fed with a really long name.

Round #19

Big Andy Mac of International World Class All Star Professional Championship Wrestling Global Alliance and Grappling Arts Federation Unlimited (IWCASPCWGAAGAFU) selects Jimmy Rave.

Rave is that rare character who doesn’t have to say a word and you just utterly despise, not in an X-Pac sort of way but in an “I want to pay to see him get his comeuppance” sort of way. Welcome to the fold Jimmy. As an added bonus…free toilet paper.

Pulse Glazer of Pro Wrestling Company (PWC) selects Taiji Ishimori.

This incredible junior is an awesome, flipping master who can still tell a story in his great matches. He’s made an excellent team with stars like KENTA in the past and has shown he can have epics in singles or tags.

Mark Allen of Prime Championship Wrestling (PCW) selects Ophidian.

In its initial outing, PCW looks to build primarily its Heavyweight and Cruiserweight divisions, so it has no problem splitting up the Osiron Portal. Ophidian is small, but can move amazingly well in the ring, plus comes with a great ready-make gimmick that will please “sports-entertainment” fans.

Steven Gepp of Generic Wrestling Promotion #25 (GNW-25) selects Damian Slater.

Along with Jag, he is one of the most experienced of the wrestlers in Australia with stints in Japan and the US. He has improved and grown in the past few years. And he can do it all in the ring. Here Slater fights Jag; the clip is more than 2 years old and both men are bigger and better than this now, but it gives you some idea (Jag is the bigger one without much hair). So, we welcome Damian Slater and all he brings to the table.

Raffi Shamir of Just Pro Wrestling (JPW) selects Melina.

Either as a valet or as a wrestler, no-one can ignore Melina. Starting as the second “M” in MNM and later as Nitro’s manager, Melina provided some of the most memorable in wrestling. But then she began to stand on her own, proving that as impressive as her entrances are, her in-ring abilities are even more impressive. Melina is also one of only three wrestlers to hold both WWE Women’s and Divas’ championships. Melina promises to turn heads, regardless of what her role in JPW will be.

Grey Scherl of Real Ass Pro Wrestling (RAPW) selects Johnny Jeter.

Sure, the mainstream might know him best as Johnny from the Spirit Squad, but I remember reading up on his career when he was teaming with Matt Cappotelli in OVW as the Thrillseekers, just as I remember being excited at the prospect of him getting a push on the main roster. WWE may have blown it with him, but RAPW won’t!

Roy Reynolds of Full Force Wrestling (FFW) selects Sara Del Rey.

Sara Del Rey arguably may be the greatest female wrestler in all of the independent scene. Del Rey made that more than evident when she became the first ever SHIMMER Champion in 2007. Sara does whatever she can to always up her game, including training at the Chikara WrestleFactory one to two times a week. Sara will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in FFW’s women’s division.

Michael O’Mahony of Lost Art Wrestling (LAW) selects Gail Kim.

Wasted for a second time in WWE having been signed on the basis of the division-defining feud she pulled off with Awesome Kong in TNA, Gail is once again Just Another Diva. Here at LAW, we recognize talent when we see it, and intend to give Kim the opposition and booking she needs to shine once again.

David Brashear of New Generation Wrestling (NGW) selects Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens, the Naturals.

A talented young tag team, the Naturals rose to prominence in TNA, where they often found themselves the odd men out in the tag division. After leaving the company, they headed to Puerto Rico where they once again became tag team champions. Now they come to NGW. Once again they will have their chance to cement their place in wrestling history, and they’re not going to waste the opportunity.

Round #20

Michael O’Mahony of Lost Art Wrestling (LAW) selects Taylor Wilde.

Wilde’s combination of talent and enthusiasm make her a babyface in the old school tradition, something it’s still okay to be in women’s wrestling. Taylor’s obvious commitment to continually improving her work is also an admirable quality, and is the final ingredient that makes her perfect for LAW.

Roy Reynolds of Full Force Wrestling (FFW) selects Gran Akuma and Icarus, F.I.S.T.

F.I.S.T. is arrogant, athletic, and one of the most successful teams in CHIKARA history. Akuma and Icarus have been together since 2003 and aside from a few instances, have remained strong buddies ever since. F.I.S.T. most recently made a huge impact in the debut pay-per-view of Dragon Gate USA. Akuma and Icarus will look to continue their momentum from CHIKARA and DGUSA into the FFW tag team division.

Grey Scherl of Real Ass Pro Wrestling (RAPW) selects Jeff Jarrett.

Sure, we haven’t seen much of him lately since the whole Karen Angle incident, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Jeff can still go. He still has his ring psychology, and he can work an entertaining match, so he should be perfect for helping to build future stars. I figure he’s still got quite a few good years left in him.

Raffi Shamir of Just Pro Wrestling (JPW) selects Beth Phoenix.

WWE’s alpha female shown time and time again that there aren’t many women who can keep up with her. Her wrestling skills are top notch but Phoenix also gets her way outside of the ring, as we saw in her romantic adventure with Santino Marella. Phoenix will be a major player in JPW’s women’s division.

Steven Gepp of Generic Wrestling Promotion #25 (GNW-25) selects Matt Silva.

Silva can best be described as a shorter version of Mike Awesome. Heel or face, brawling or wrestling, he can do it all. He has not been in the business that long, but his skills are already mighty fine. Here is a somersault plancha while is a brief montage when accepting Grimm’s open challenge. Strong, athletic, young and powerful, Silva has it all.

Mark Allen of Prime Championship Wrestling (PCW) selects Sabu.

The hardcore legend may have lost a step from earlier in his career, but he is still an attraction. He helped revolutionize hardcore wrestling in the U.S. and was able to actually mix it up in the ring if he chose to. He will bring a different element to the PCW and will be able to mix it up with the heavyweights or cruiserweights with ease.

Pulse Glazer of Pro Wrestling Company (PWC) selects Vladimir Kozlov.

Wrestling has a long history of killer Russians and this giant, heel monster will continue that. Once terrible, Kozlov has been working with Dean Malenko and other agents in ECW and is now back to being a future monster star.

Big Andy Mac of International World Class All Star Professional Championship Wrestling Global Alliance and Grappling Arts Federation Unlimited (IWCASPCWGAAGAFU) selects Prince Nana (non-wrestling manager).

Previously IWCASPCWAAGAFU selected Jimmy Rave. How can one have the crown jewel without the Prince? We select Prince Nana. Nana is one of the most entertaining people in the wrestling world today. He can bring humor, but also can bring the intensity to carry an important feud. Good managers are hard to find and Nana is one of the best.

Round #21

Big Andy Mac of International World Class All Star Professional Championship Wrestling Global Alliance and Grappling Arts Federation Unlimited (IWCASPCWGAAGAFU) selects Raven (color commentator).

This guy hasn’t stepped into the booth since the early 90s but he did a great job then and only became a better talker sincer. What about me? What about Raven? Yes, Raven will be doing color commentary for that fed with the really long name.

Pulse Glazer of Pro Wrestling Company (PWC) selects Prince Devitt.

Devitt is the best English jr in the world, so good he was invited to be a New Japan regular and live in Japan. He’s currently seen as the future of jr wrestling for the company that was once the home of Tiger Mask and had their awesome jr. Tradition continuue with Lyger. Devitt is poised to be the next great jr. Gaijin in the mold of Dynamite and Benoit.

Mark Allen of Prime Championship Wrestling (PCW) selects Josh Mathews (play-by-play commentator).

Mathews has grown immensely as a play-by-play man over the past few years. He is a long-time student of the game whose extensive knowledge of pro wrestling history helps his commentary in every way. He will make a perfect foil for the always obnoxious JBL and will only help him grow as a performer.

Steven Gepp of Generic Wrestling Promotion #25 (GNW-25) selects Bruce “Havok” Mills.

Havok is big and strong and mean. While he may not have as many championships as some others on the roster, this is through no fault of his own. Here, from a few years ago, is his sit-out bomb. In GNW-25 we would even consider teaming him up with his old tag-team partner ‘Jag’ Hartley Jackson for what could well prove to be a dominat team in the ranks. But as an individual or half of a tandem, Havok is going to be a huge asset for GNW-25.

Raffi Shamir of Just Pro Wrestling (JPW) selects Tara.

Accompanied by her trusty tarantula Poison, Tara is the lady to mess with in TNA’s Knockouts division. I was in MSG when Tara, then known as Victoria, battled Trish Stratus in a hardcore match at Survivor Series 2002 and the two blew the roof off the arena. Whether it’s pro wrestling or MMA, Tara is as dominant as they get and will be a major player in JPW.

Grey Scherl of Real Ass Pro Wrestling (RAPW) selects Kane.

Yes, Kane. A staple on WWE programming since the late 90’s, portraying the character of the Undertaker’s brother. He’s a good monster who has reached that level of popularity where you don’t need to give him titles, or even wins. He’s always going to be over. This helps with the fact that he’s getting older, as he can be used to help elevate younger talent. Well, that, and absolutely demolish them during other occasions. He’s the Big Red Machine!

Michael O’Mahony of Lost Art Wrestling (LAW) selects Manami Toyota.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest female performers of all time, Toyota’s 20+ year career contains numerous spectacular matches (her 60-minute time limit draw with Kyoko Inoue was the Observer’s MOTY in 1995), and her incredible ability is inarguable. LAW expects to use Toyota in much the same way as other veterans such as Michaels and Muta – to be an active member of the roster lending credibility to the division and acting as a mentor and trainer to younger talent. Mike Tenay will, of course, be contractually obliged to scream, “Japanese Ocean!” on a regular basis.

Feel free to post comments and feedback below. The final rounds (twenty-two through twenty-five) of the Pulse Wrestling Fantasy Draft will be posted in the next update. Expect it to be up on the website some time over the weekend. Once again, I want to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving.
