Gossip Girl – Episode 3-11 Review

Shows

Finally, we are getting some Nate/Serena action! After last week’s declaration of love (well, practically) on Nate’s part, I thought for sure Tripp was out of the picture. Yeah, I was wrong. Though, this week’s Thanksgiving episode was brilliant and featured one of the best dinners ever.

Everyone is lured to Lily and Rufus’ for dinner even though she just wants to order in. Talk about awkward…

Dan is struggling over his feelings for Vanessa (ugh) and it seems Vanessa’s mom sees right through him. She tells him that he already broke her heart once and not to bother confessing his love unless he really means it. Thankfully, he didn’t say anything. I don’t know, I just don’t see the chemistry between these two. Perhaps once the storyline develops more I will see something, but for now I’m not on Team Danessa (or is it Van?). But for you Danessa fans, it will happen. It’s inevitable. I mean, how many more couples haven’t we explored on this show?

Blair is playing detective when her mother comes home and she finds a pregnancy test and some papers about her will. Basically, she runs around the whole episode trying to get her mother to drink and eat sushi, which she doesn’t. At dinner, she abruptly calls her out and Eleanor assures her she isn’t pregnant. The two find out that it’s Darota who is knocked up with the bell boy downstairs (or whatever he is). Luckily, he is happy about it.

Serena is trying not-so-successfully to keep her feelings for Tripp a secret since his divorce has not gone public yet. The duo are caught making out in an elevator in Chuck’s hotel and he tells them, “You two ever play grab-ass in my elevator again and Serena will be staying at the airport Marriot.” Haha. Gotta love Chuck. Sadly, he is more of an accessory this episode. But, he does come through with the witty comments when needed.

Things get heated between Eric and Jenny when she finds out he is faking his courtesy towards her. He blames her for his breakup with Jonathan and it looks like he is out for revenge. Sounds somewhat intriguing, but definitely not my favorite story arc. Jenny just bothers the hell out of me.

Lily is keeping secrets from Rufus and when he invites her mother to Thanksgiving dinner, she is less-than-thrilled. Things blow up at dinner when Tripp’s wife Maureen (who was invited by Lily) calls out Serena for being a dirty whore. It seems Nate tipped her off about the affair with the elevator video he stole from Chuck. Lily tells Serena she is no longer welcome in her home while seeing a married man. Serena fires back with an opened envelope she finds from her father that Lily has been hiding.

Although Serena apologizes to Maureen, she goes off with Tripp anyway. But not before Nate begs her to stay with him. Awww. Chuck swoops in to save a sad Nate and insists they get drunk. Maureen grabs the wrong coat on her way out and the envelope Lily has been hiding ends up in her hands. Uh oh…wonder what it says? Something good apparently. Maureen smiles as she reads it.

It’s true Gossip Girl is much more exciting when everyone is at each other’s throats, but I also like that there is usually one couple holding down the insanity. It’s nice to see Blair and Chuck are that couple for now. I’m excited to see where the Nate/Serena thing goes, because besides Blair and Chuck, I think they have the most chemistry. Vanessa and Dan? I’ll give them a try, but no promises!
