News

Manny Pacquiao has signed the contract drawn up by Bob Arum to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr, according to Dan Rafael at ESPN.com. Mayweather Jr has given his verbal agreement but his signature on the contract has not been confirmed.

According to the contract, in addition to the March 13 date, the fight will be held at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds and Pacquiao’s WBO Welterweight title will be on the line.

Both fighters will wear 8-ounce gloves but they are free to select their own brand.

The fighters will receive a 50-50 purse split. This is expected to be the highest grossing boxing pay-per-view ever. It’s also expected to break the record of PPV buys set by Floyd and Oscar De La Hoya at 2.44 million.

The site has not been finalized but interest has come from Dallas, New Orleans, and Las Vegas.
