Talk of the third Ghostbusters movie has heated up over the last year with so many rumors flying about that we aren’t exactly sure what or what not to believe. Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) though may have given us a little solid info.
Weaver did an interview with a UK television station talking about her career and of course the talk turned to Ghostbusters 3. While no set plot points or information had been released on the second sequel to the 1984 hit; Weaver divulged some information that a script has been written and she’s seen it.
“I’m afraid to say it [Ghostbusters 3] is happening, I hope people are excited about that. I don’t know if I’m going to be in it, I have had a couple of calls asking ‘would you read the script’.”
Besides already knowing that and also somewhat knowing that our original busters (Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson) will be back on the job; she decided to share a bit more. POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW.
“I know that my little son Oscar – who was kidnapped from me – I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster.”
That there would be new Ghostbusters helping out our old faithful is also something that has been rumored, but I hadn’t yet heard that young Oscar would be stepping into the jumpsuit and boots. Perhaps the biggest plot point she revealed though is this next bit that could put a whole new swing on things.
“I might be in it; I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don’t think I will have a big part. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it – he’s a ghost.”
Say What??????? Dr. Peter Venkman is a ghost? Is he going to be a helpful ghost? Will he need to be busted? This is rather interesting and could make for one hell of a movie that already seemed destined for greatness. Let’s just hope we find out more soon.
