Dispute Could Lead To WWE Smackdown Blackout In Key Markets

News

A contract dispute between Time Warner Cable and Fox might lead to a blackout of Fox-owned stations in major markets including New York and Los Angeles. These stations include Fox, Fox News, FX and My Network TV, which airs Smackdown.

The issue at hand is that FOX wants Time Warner to pay $1 per month per customer to get FOX’s network of stations, a bold move by Fox in an attempt to bolster revenue in the face of declining advertising revenues.

Not only would this mean the loss of Smackdown in Time Warner Cable packages, it would also eliminate Fox broadcasts of the NFL in key late season matches and the playoffs.
