Mr. Pricklepants in new Toy Story 3 Featurette

News, Projects, Trailers

It’s a new year so now we can start referencing films as “Coming this Summer” instead of “Coming in 2010.” Disney•Pixar has debuted a new short featurette that offers a quick glimpse of “Mr. Pricklepants,” a new character in Toy Story 3. Mr. Pricklepants is a hedgehog who’s described as to having “thespian tendencies.” And who better to voice such a thespian than Timothy Dalton.

The featurette appeared on the Disney Channel and it includes director Lee Unkrich highlighting all of Andy’s toys as well as Mr. Pricklepants.

It’s too early to say if Mr. Pricklepants will be good or bad, but if he is regarded as having thespian tendencies, I’m sure he’ll have narcissistic flair. Pixar has never steered us wrong when it comes to getting the right actor to fit the voice of a character. Timothy Dalton seems like a spot-on choice. And he’s voicing a character that looks like Winnie the Pooh but with prickles. PRICKLES!

Toy Story 3 reunites all the voice actors from the first two films except for Jim Varney, who has since passed away. Along with Dalton, new to the cast are Michael Keaton (playing Barbie’s boyfriend, Ken); Blake Clark (voicing Slinky Dog, replacing Jim Varney); Kristin Schaal; Whoopi Goldberg; Bonnie Hunt; and Jeff Garlin.

Alright, guys. Let us know how you feel about Mr. Pricklepants as well as the choice to have a former 007 voice the character.
