WWE misses opportunity with Bret Hart

The WWE is missing a great opportunity with Bret Hart through no fault of their own. Since before he was returning, Bret has given numerous interviews. Here’s a quote from one with the Ministry of Slam wrestling show about the best in the world today:

“I think Melina is really creative and imaginative,” Hart said. “She’s an innovator and she comes up with some great matches. I love watching her wrestle. In a lot of ways, I think she’s the best wrestler in the world right now.”

Now, it’s fairly obvious to most that Melina isn’t the best in the world. She’s definitely innovative and a hard worker, but, like most divas, doesn’t put together wrestling matches especially well or use psychology terribly effectively. These are problems Bret Hart could help solve, in either a program or backstage, exceptionally well.
Melina is unlikely to be paired with the red hot Bret Hart in a program. He’s coming back to work with the company owner Vince McMahon and main event superstar Shawn Michaels. A diva, even a top diva, doesn’t fit in with that… unless, of course, she’s written into those storylines.

Bret is assumed to be working with Hart family trained team Tyson Kidd and Davey Hart Smith. They are managed by Bret’s former partner, Jim Neidhart’s daughter, Natalya. This would give Melina an in to the angle and, with coaching, could lead us to the best diva action since Trish Stratus was on top. With Melina and, likely, Natalya elevated in both the fans eyes and in terms of in ring quality, we’d have a new golden era of divas action.

Melina, unfortunately, appears to have torn her ACL, an injury that could well keep her out for the entirety of Bret Hart’s contract. Chalk this up to another ill-timed injury costing the WWE.
