News, Projects

Into the life of every successful film’s life, a sequel or two must fall. Especially when that film is one of the most successful releases of the past year.

Avatar has now raked in $1.1 billion worldwide through Wednesday, January 6 making it already the second highest grossing film in history behind Titanic. With such success, it has been rumored that Avatar would be in line for a sequel, but nothing was ever confirmed.

Until now.

Aint It Cool News has reported that James Cameron finally gave a bit of concrete evidence at a Q&A session that there would be more films to make Avatar into a franchise. Cameron said that the second film would be easier because the technology that is needed now exists thanks to the first film. He advised that the plans were always to make a trilogy in the franchise, but when it finally came down to it…Cameron gave something very definite.

“Yes, there’ll be another.”

Doesn’t get much more evident then that when the man himself says it. Fans all over the world can rejoice that there will be much more Avatar to enjoy.
