10 Thoughts on WWE Monday Night RAW 01.11.2009

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

Mike Tyson is your guest host and here are my 10 Thoughts:

  1. Mike Tyson looks and acts like he’s hepped up on goofballs.  And why does Sheamus have an issue with him being an iconic 20th Century sports figure.  It’s the 21st Century now.  Sheamus was probably in high school in the 20th Century.
  2. Randy Orton has a nice reference to Sportscenter.  They always find a way to put RAW on the show if a has-been sports hero is guest hosting.  Especially if Scott Van Pelt is hosting.  And then Cena screws up the NFL playoff picture.
  3. The Legacy angle advancement is great but should’ve happened 6 months ago (or more).  Hopefully it will be written well enough to withstand the delay (here’s to hoping).  Also, great dig by Rhodes on DiBiase – “My 5th grade graduation video is superior to the Marine movies”.
  4. How is Evan Bourne not dead yet.  Every finishing move he takes seems to either break his neck or break his back.  Here’s my hat off for entertaining me every week.
  5. Swagger on the mic?  Every time I think they’re gonna push this kid they do something like pair him up with Santino and have him lose an over-the-top rope challenge.
  6. Randy Orton winning the Triple Threat is awesome.  Too bad the match itself seemed sloppy.  It started just awful and took forever to get a solid pace.  The Legacy interference seemed ill-timed as well  (DiBiase took forever to get there).  And couldn’t Cena take the loss for a change?  Kingston just keeps getting buried further down the card.
  7. Tyson threatening Hornswoggle was gold.  The only time Tyson looked comfortable speaking on camera was when he threatened to jump rope with Hornswoggle’s intestines.  Tells you a lot, I think.
  8. The Miz/MVP confrontation was actually pretty interesting.  I still think MVP works better as a heel but Miz “Real World past” vs. MVP “prison system past” is as good a basis as any for a feud.
  9. Vince McMahon addressing the Bret Hart situation was boring and short.  Didn’t add anything to the show at all.
  10. Tyson NAILED Jericho.  And he actually didn’t totally embarrass himself in the ring.  We all saw it coming but it was entertaining nonetheless.

Well, that’s all.  See you next week kids.
